Rachael I have the same juicer -- my dear older neighbor told me to put a few marbles into the ‘bottom water pan’ she said you hear them moving around as the water boils and when it stops making the noise you know you need to add more water ! Hope that helps you as much as Bea helped me ♥️

We had wild grapes in our yard growing up. Most would be consumed fresh but my mom did make jelly if there was a good harvest. Delicious!

I just found a patch of wild grapes on a friends land and I’m going to harvest those. I’m so excited about it. Canner thankfully has a spigot . I don’t have to use that tube.

I have the same juicer. We finally got enough grapes from our 3 year vines to make 7 half pints of jelly and still have some grapes in the freezer.

I really enjoyed watching you make the juice I've never had a juicer But I love to make apple sauce and now I'm thinking all the peels and cores and stuff that may have went to waste

That’s exciting that you got so much juice from the wild grapes! I have a juicer almost exactly like yours, the handles are a little different, I have made juice with it a lot of times. A couple things I do differently, I clamp the hose close to the pot and stick the end of the hose inside the little circle on the clamp, so the juice in the hose doesn’t come into the hose and cool down, I want to keep it very hot. Then, when I let the juice out, I don’t want to stand there holding the clamp open, so I clamp it onto the very top of the spout where the juice comes into the hose, the metal spout keeps it open enough for the juice to come out. Then, when the jar is full, I close the clamp, put a lid and ring on the jar and either turn it upside down on a towel for 5 minutes, or I put it in my steam canner, waiting to fill another jar. I usually let the juicer sit until all the juice is drawn out of the fruit before I take some out if I’m planning to can it, not just little bits at a time, although with some things, I do need to empty the pot some so it doesn’t overflow. These are tips I use, but everyone does things differently. If you turn the jar over and the juice is very hot, you don’t need to can it, the jar will seal when it cools. I understand some people might not feel safe doing it that way. In that case, canning it for 10 minutes works too.

I’ve got several gallons of muscadine grapes I need to process. I’m going to buy a good steam juicer to help me get all the goodness from them. Thanks for the vid.

I love my steam juicer! Here's a tip to avoid burning yourself: When you are ready to drain the tube of juice, open the clamp and slide it all the way down to the metal tip part. The clamp will stay open while it drains and you don't have to hold it open near the hot steam. Looking forward to your jelly video. Enjoy your vacation!

Thank you for this video Rachel, I've been thinking about getting a juicer since like 2 yrs ago, I guess I should have gotten then since it's gone up about $20 in price, but I been picking wild black raspberries from my yard and freezing, I don't like the seeds so I never picked before but I couldn't resist this yr they are just so abundant. I'll be ordering 1 of these juices now. You guys enjoy your vacation.

Nice to have such a variety. Was wondering how restocking your pantry is going after a year off last year 🤔

I have a similar juicer, except it has a spigot instead of the tubing. The downside is that it sits too far back on the stove top. I fixed that by using a single burner unit. Much patience required, but these do make the best juice!

I love my steam juicer! Best investment ever! But I do not like that clamp, it takes a bit if strength, I have to use a pot holder to squeeze it.

I find that the stem add an unwanted earthy green flavor. I try to get as much of the stem off. Also mine only takes like 20 mins before I can start filling my jars. Maybe the wild ones just take longer with their thicker skins. Such yummy juice!

Looks amazing! What if there might be some grapes that have a slight fungus that you may miss with just putting in so many clumps? And the grapes are dark which makes it hard to see.

I just bought this and have already lost my book. I keep looking for some how to clean videos. I just took it and washed it all in soapy water. I assume the funnel doesn’t come off. I just ran soapy water through it.
