I really really hope this game succeeds and it becomes a franchise. By all accounts the actual monster hunting in this game is excellent, the music is great and the creativity on display with the Karakuri and the new weapons should really be applauded - I don't know if they could have reasonably done better in creating a viable Monster Hunter parallel franchise. It is a horrid shame the graphical performance is so poor and is really holding the scores and the all important FIRST IMPRESSION on the gaming community back.

I absolutely want to play it! I really wanted to like Monster Hunter World, and ended up playing 50hrs of it, but something that really held me back from really enjoying it was how tedious it was. Everything about the game is overly complicated and slow and tedious. There are WAY too many systems and mechanics (eating, activated effects while eating, which skills are useful, playing armor/talisman/decoration tetres to fit the skills, palico hunts, Steamworks, melding master, fertilizing tree, ect ect ect). This game seems to have all of the fun with none of the nonsense.

I’m having a blast with it. It’s definitely not Monster Hunter competition yet, but tbf a brand new IP competing with Capcom’s established IP would be very difficult. I'm so glad MHR was free on Game Pass because between my wife just hating it compared to MHW, they also fucked up matchmaking for apparently just game pass members to the point we could NOT coop at all during launch. We in fact gave up trying after a few days, got separated by progress and she ultimately quit before we ever went on a single hunt together. It made me so mad I refuse to ever support their trash ever again. You've convinced me to give this a go once it comes down in price as Xbox only offers a 10 hour trial atm, but if it hits $40 in the future I'll check it out.
@FreyVanir Жыл бұрын
Been in the monster hunting genre since Freedom Unite, and this review pretty much nails what I felt after watching the gameplay for Wild Hearts. It does create its own niche among different monster hunting style games like MH (nomadic), God Eater (anime waifu?), Dauntless (more fantasy) and this one being I'm sorta playing Nioh/Sekiro but I'm hunting huge ass bosses every time I go out on a quest or mission. Also agree on the popping every now and then, it gets distracting if you're the type who's very appreciative of in-game world scenery. Although once you're on the hunt it prolly won't matter much. Looks bearable enough during combat, I'm on a 3050ti laptop right now and will move to a 3070ti soon, so idk whether I'll be affected by in-game performance. The crafting system does look interesting. One of my main gripes as a Monster Hunter vet is that I always get limited with my actions on terrain interactions; like sliding attacks for Dual Blades, charging jump attacks using GS/hammer, or simply looking for a safe spot to hide during EXBehemoth's ult when it first came out and players can't just brute force the hunt. Pre-ordered both World and Iceborne and was not disappointed with the entirety, but for 70 bucks on this one, even being on the monster hunting genre on different titles, this kinda makes me feel conflicted. Is this because of EA shenanigans? I had hopes since Omega Force developed good old classic DW.
@yvannenikolainethercott5709 Жыл бұрын
I personally think the asking price is too much for the scope of the content, the lack of level of polish that MH does, and game performance. MH released for a cheaper price, and since this is EA, people are automatically unforgiving. I myself am biased to the point that I think they'll release a 10USD DLC in the future with 1 recoloured monster and 1 recoloured armour/weapon set. This definitely has potential for specific types of hunter fans, but it's all over the place and too expensive for being in the state that it is.

@@yvannenikolainethercott5709 facts, tbh the $70 price point for anything besides some of the biggest and most polished games is wild to me. Yes but MH games also sell an expansion so the full game totals to like $70-$80 sometimes if you buy both separately when they launch , so they aren’t that different in price if you think about. But I agree i’m having a hard time justifying buying it when it’s a brand new competitor and I don’t know if it’s gonna be worth it. I played the trial and I did like the game though but idk if it’s something I want to sink time into. I find it funny though how people have no problem spending $60 for a game but if a game is $70 then all the sudden it’s too expensive lol. That’s only a difference of $10 dollars but psychologically it makes it seem a lot more expensive. Games have been selling for 60 for nearly twenty years so it makes sense why they’re jacking the price up because $60 today isn’t what it used to be
@grimreefer213 Жыл бұрын
GTA San Andreas and Halo 2 sold for $50 in 2004, that same $50 is equivalent in value to $80 in 2023, so considering inflation games selling for $60 today are giving us a good deal, and $70 is still less than the market rate if the price rose with inflation.

I've always been a fan of Monster Hunter's more methodical, deliberate style of combat. It's one of the reasons I like those games so much. In fact I think the games have gotten a little too flashy and fast over the last iterations. So I don't quite think this game is for me. But 70$ would have been too much even if this had been a very polished release. Considering that it's not a very polished release at all (I mean it's a Koei Tecmo game, of course it's not polished), it's a little ridiculous that this on virtual shelves for that price point. Thankfully I'm the kind of person who can wait a year or two before I pick up a game. We'll see what happens with this one I guess.

@@Ocean5ix On a practical and prgamatic level I recognise that, at least in theory, the product's asking price should take into consideration production costs with sales projections. On a personal level I look at whether or not a game was worth the cost based on the experiences taken from them. The length of game can be irrelevant depending on the experience it delivers. The latter part of this equation can't be predicted at the point of sale, as such the price paid is down to personal assessment using various sources of information and comparison. I run the game on an i7-9700k with a 3070ti. Game is installed on an m2. 1440p locked to 60, medium graphic setting and I rarely get 60fps. Most of the time it is around the 45 mark average, dipping even below 30 regularly. To me the performance is absolutely the biggest issue. I don't get why people bash the games graphics to all hell. Does it look worse then MoHun World? You could say "sure" but it's a different artstyle. MoHun Rise also looks "worse" than World. People complaining about too few kemono comparing it to MoHun with its >70 monsters? Very fair comparison... a new IP compared to an IP that has been around for almost 2 decades. The first MoHun also only had 17 monsters. If they can fix the performance with the planned patch next week that is a big step forward already. New Monsters already confirmed for March and April. Is the game fun? Yes, it is. But there are also some extremely clunky things that get annoying fast. Especially the camera... Would I recommend the game? Not sure tbh, probably not. 70 bucks is a pretty hefty price especially for its current state. In the future maybe. They said that they are not planning to add any paid content so 70 bucks might be a fair price. If they stick to that, that is. Since it is a Koei Tecmo game it will most likely take a long time until it goes on sale.

I have over 300 hrs in both World and in rise. Is this game better than those, definitely not but I will say it definitely is funner. Running it on a 3080 the pop in is noticeable but it's running fine.

Now that I’m looking at it I will wait for the price to drop I’m not paying full price for a game that’s not fully done and just watching some of the gameplays I already have some problems with the game. I just don’t think it’s worth 60$ right now

This game has so far been well worth $70 imo, I'm enjoying for more than I did Rise personally.

For me, the worry about this game is purely that it's an EA game. I'm totally onboard with a monster hunter style experience that's a little simplified and has slightly different focus. What I just don't trust is EA's monetization history of ruining good games with aweful grind walls you can get around via paying for something, aweful daily log in "rewards" and the locking of the coolest things in a full price game behind aweful battle passes, lootboxes, etc. I want to be wrong... but until it's been out a while and I'm proved wrong I just dint trust them

I loved playing Monster Hunter World. That was the first MH for me as well and I would love to play this too, because Rise just… pushed me away. I didn’t enjoy anything in Rise. It felt lifeless. Wild Hearts so far seems like has that vibrat life and theme I love. However, the Steam reviews are really warning me away. My pc is not too expensive build so I don’t want to buy a game I will be unable to enjoy. Also waiting for a discount, because 70€ is really too much.

I have definitely been looking forward to this game being a MHW fan, but I’m always wary of anything EA does. Glad I didn’t preorder, they don’t deserve our money if they are selling a substandard product at a premium price.

The monster designs look fantastic, but the performance is not. Worth paying $70 dollars for this? No, I rather wait till they patch things up and add more content. The game looks fun however, in terms of combat and cooperative play

I would like to play but everything I read is. Sub par graphics Performance issues (worse because it has Sub par graphics) Most important it's over 100$ Canadian for the x/s version. If this was a 40-60$ game I would buy it. Will wait for a sale as there are so many game pass games coming out soon. Oddly enough, this showed up on my game pass tile cover ( of course It's not on game pass..yet. lol)

I seer the inspiration from monsterhunter. But there were 2 things in Monsterhunter which i disliked so much, i stopped playing fairly early on. - Coop: The coop was horrible. Typical asian coop design where there is co-op somewhere but you need to play a lot alone to be able to play with friends, and even if it opens up, you can only maybe invite your friend to a game you started. But not to every singel one and have to re-queue all the time. No constant co.-op like running around the city or hub together and start missions together. - Compate pace: In Monsterhunter was everything soooo slow and rubbish. Every movement every swing, even the running around was so heavy. (i get it...design choice. But still...) it felt so bad to play it. Now i heard that this game has a much smooter and faster combat system. Which is awesome. Do you know something about the coop? Is this the same system as it is in MHW?

its a EA + koei game so you should expect the same as always from them: *EA: fun gameplay, unpolished and buggy games, ton of microtransactions...* *Koei: great story (mostly japonese culture), low grapihcs, repetitive gameplay...*

I have the same opinion, looks great, i want to play but MH rise cost 40 and this 70. If the game drops to 40 or 50 i will buy and play it.

I'll wait for a sale. It's not a first party game, so I expect the price to drop sooner than say, God of War: Ragnarok or Horizon Forbidden West.

This looks better and plays better than MH franchise even with its flaws. I don't think it gets the credit it deserves. Imgine playing an imperfect game just for the joy of playing a fun game.

After Playing Monster Hunter: Rise because of friends. This looks like a simplified version of MH, but with the same look and feel to it. I honestly thought this was the next Monster Hunter game. I actually think the only crowd for this is indeed only the Monster Hunter fans. Thanks but I cam good by having played just one of those games and I'm done with them. You max out character and you move on to next game. It will take you a while.

Paid a month of EA PRO on PC to try play Dead Space and this. Like you said, I wanted to like MH:W but never could get past its clunkyness, as more or less a newbie to this type of game I'm really enjoying it. But the performance lol, I have a 2080ti and it doesn't matter what settings I try, its just terrible, also at 1440p. But yeah other than that its really good so far. I agree at the $40 price point.

Exactly £70 for a game with a lot of problems. Meanwhile rise is £32 on console and runs perfectly well
@BadButterfly65 Жыл бұрын
@@dartheastman1599 i mean. Rise had its own fair share if problems on switch release. Also its not a newly build IP. Most of the stuff they had to re retouched, but not rebuild. But yes. Thats mostly my point.

It's $70 :^) There really shouldn't be much more to say. If you're going to charge 1/3rd of a week's worth of groceries or 1/6th the price of an entire, modern console, you better be putting out a product where there's no question that it functions.
@serjofcinder8925 Жыл бұрын
I very much agree with you that Elden Ring and hogwarts legacy are my top 2 as well. Just in the other order. But I think that maybe, just maybe the witcher 3 would have been a tough challanger for these 2 if they would have just removed the question marks and just made the map a bit more with discreet marks that might or might not have something there and, and maybe clues when you pick up stuff from notice boards....
@gnoclaude7945 Жыл бұрын
I love the game but there are a few issues. Poor performance, poor voice acting, fewer monsters than Monster Hunter, no memorable armor or weapons (so far), less crafting (bombs, traps exc), and a lack of depth to combat. The skills in MH were build defining while here it feels like a small number boost. I am also not a fan of the building. The wirebug solves all of the issues by adding arial attacks, dodges, and super attacks with more simplicity than the building. There's no mounts and the glider stinks for traversal. That said it's the best non MH ever and I'm addicted. The world is huge, has enough upgrades and rewards to make exploration and hunts meaningful, and is just plain fun. A year of patches and support could polish this into a must play with a sequel being a real contender to the throne. I say support it and enjoy something until the next MH drops. It has some great fights and the passion is there.

yep, 70 is too much and im simply not touching ANY game, that has ANY sort of performance issue anymore, period.

The thing is that monster Hunter rise can be played for free on Xbox Gamepass and the movement I far faster then world and also lvls have different layers where u can explore and things. Monster Rise is a much easier less complex monster Hunter game. A tab to easy but for new players I think challenging enough. Wild Hearts look great but should be on game pass for Xbox. Also runs stable on Xbox series x. So not sure maybe is time for pc player’s to switch to console. Why a few advantages. Imagine buying a gaming system one time and have never do any modifications to it to be able to play the newest games 10 years from now .Sounds like paradise and a lot of money saving. Also seems the games on console have less issues. But the biggest is buy a gaming system one time don’t have to worry for the next 10 years to still play the newest game without any extra cost besides the game itself. That alone already sounds like such a no brainer to me.

Imo this game is not worth 70 bucks. Id wait for anyone second guessing themselves about it. Im about 15 hours in and honestly it feels like ive already done everything the game has to offer beside just grinding for gear and fighting "harder versions" of the bosses youve already been killing all game. Maybe itll get better when they add DLC and more stuff but right know it feels empty.
@xarixas Жыл бұрын
Worth mentioning that they have planned monthly free update that add pretty much everything. New Kemono(enemies), weapon, karakuri(building) and so on. That is why is 70$. You buy the game and the future update as well. So maybe is better to just wait few patches and additions. Unless you are a heavy monster hunting genre fan.
