Hiking and hunting the hills and volcanoes of Central America in the 80’s and 90’s gave Amós Rodriguez a foundation for his ancestral skills life’s practice. Growing up in the context of the U.S. financed civil war in El Salvador increased his urban and wilderness survival and awareness skills; both of which are essential for striving in our modern society.
During the post-war period, Amós assisted rural communities devastated by the violence. These experiences increased his humanism and highlighted the need to be an advocate for secured and regenerative communities.
Amós has been perfecting his craft as a hunter and primitive skills practitioner over the years. He is a humanist, an artist, and a guide. His life intention is to build a better future for the next seven generations.

I love the reciprocity in your relationship with the bees! Clearly, being a steward and working with nature has some pretty sweet rewards. That honey is beautiful!

If you use an uncapping knife instead of scraping with the fork you will get wax you can also sell/use. Bees don't reuse wax cappings, they chew them up and dump them outside in the grass, so the bees are saved some work if you use an uncapping knife and you get wax you can use.

After you have been doing beekeeping for a while you get a feel for how much honey each hive needs for winter, which depends on colony size and how cold the weather is in your area. You also get an idea how long it takes to gather in Autumn/Fall, so after a certain time of year you can stop removing honey and leave them to get what they need for winter without issue. For me I only remove honey in Autumn if they are out of space and need room for more honey, otherwise I leave it alone.

Awesome video. I used to make a lot of meads back in my home-brewing days and learned a lot about the complex and unique nature of every batch of honey and its dependence on the local environment etc. Cool to see you utilizing your honey in so many ways. Unrelated but I have the same gas oven/stovetop at my home as well. 😅

me again, i few suggestions if i may. get yourself a uncapping knife ( electric ) get the metal spaces for your boxes that reduce frames from your 10 to maybe 8 or 9. this allows the bees to draw the foundation beyond the wood frame, then when you slide the hot knife down the wood acts as a rail for the knife. some people use queen excluders prior to harvest to keep brood out. i also collect just prior to all the fall flowers that come out. learn about your flowers by season they sell nice posters of them and last ratchet strap that extractor to a tree.... dont fight it
