In the wild, red pandas live alone except for mating, where they come together for just a few days/weeks. They don't mind being separated. In fact, zoos are required to never have more than two and make sure both have ample space for themselves.

Separation is necessary in this case to avoid in-breeding when they become adults ! They need to mate with other red pandas from a different family!

It's possible, but - and I hate to say it - you probably wouldn't want these two to breed. Henry was sickly as a youngster, and Tink also has problems. Better off breeding them with individuals with no medical issues in order to produce healthier offspring.

They are really very cute but I wonder why their fur is not similar to Red Pandas which is found in our himalayas. They should be given carrot, banana, apple etc etc. they like fruits too besides bamboo is thier main food. Thanks very much for caring. I worked with them in Darjeeling zoo and it is real fun, loving and intersting to look and care them.

He did pass away a few years ago. But I think he had some cubs before that so he did leave a legacy! I so hoped that Henry and Tink would be reunited one day, but it didn't come to pass. I think Tink is doing well though, at least she was a couple of years ago. @@Booljoomuk
