Having new birds accompanying familiar birds makes you wish you can communicate in some way, just enough so you can get an idea of who the newcomers are. If you don't mind sword and magic fantasy fiction, I highly recommend The Belgariad series by David Eddings. Just simply to be introduced to Polgara, and her affinity with birds. It'll make you "awww" if you're a bird lover!

Kookaburras are remarkable birds. There's a Red-Tailed Hawk's nest in a tree not far from my house. One of them was squawking about fifteen minutes ago. I think they've eaten the squirrels I was feeding as well as quite a few sparrows and other birds nearby.

Dwarfy! My little buddy! He is my favourite. ❤ Got some new friends, I see. How about naming the shy fellow Pokey? I think it sounds good, lol! Happily planning away my trip to Australia. It's supposed to be spring, but the way the weather yo yo's, it's really quite hard to be sure. One day, it's like 26°, the next, only 6°. It's very irritating. Winter is too long and too cold here. I want it 26° all the time!❤

I was expecting one of the two to snatch the third’s treat out of the air. Such a wholesome relationship you have with your feathered friends. You started out years ago bewildered by their unlikely possible attention to becoming a trusted hooman. Doesn’t hurt that you bring snacks.

This is so amazing. 😄How did you get them to fly onto your lap like this, and how long did it take? I've been working on building trust with the 5 kookaburras in my backyard and managed to get 2 to eat out of my hand, but I don't think they'd fly onto my lap like this just yet. Would love to know of any tips you might have for getting them to trust you like this!
