Freeze the clams in the bag, then vacuum seal and it won’t be so messy I used to do it with squid all the time 0:37

Yes! We’ve found this to be true for our salmon burgers as well. We’ll do this next time. Thanks for the tip!

Boy you all had a learning experience with the clams. 50 pounds, wow. Next time will be easier for you. Me and my husband learned right along with you. Thanks for taking us along, and sharing your experience. Look forward to your next video. Take care.

Used to clam on East side back in the day......early 90's, and yeah it was fun with the kids. Love eating them! Yep, and even back then, we thought about this problem with the volume of people on the beach getting clams. Can't remember, but I think we were allowed one five gallon bucket.....?

That must have been great! Sustaining the population is always difficult, can’t imagine with it being so easily accessible.

Pretty close! Lucky we didn’t quite hit that number. We were more than done with cleaning!

Its a cool video but in the same breath you talk about the population of clams being decimated but then going and saying that you plan to get as many as you within the time given? A lot of clam spots have a rule of 10-20 clams per person

Hi! Thanks for commenting on this! To clarify I was referring to the population decline of clams on the opposite side (East) of the Cook Inlet. Where we were digging (West) the population is good (as far as I know). Secondly, yes, we maximized the number of clams we could get simply due to the fact that we don’t do this often and it isn’t cheap to make the trip. We preserved what we caught and we won’t go back until we need more. We also don’t set policy for the number of clams that are allowed to be dug, if for some reason that number is ever reduced, we would respect that. We’re also not experts on any policies or management of these resources, we rely on the guide services to do this correctly and we follow their direction. We respect the resources available to us and we pay the experts to guide us and do this safely and legally. I hope that paints a clearer picture! Thanks so much for watching and we’re glad you enjoyed the video!
