I lived just down Farrington from there. Great snorkel spot. I used to see reef sharks, there. But I was never lucky enough to see the dolphins in da morning. Cool video. 🤙🏼

Great video! I went today and the visibility was not as clear as what you saw. Still had a blast though and I plan to go back.

Hi.. Wonderful video.. Do you or have you ever seen Jellyfish at the beaches of Oahu?? I hear that they are a problem but I never hear people talk about it in their videos.. I am visitng soon and need the 411, Thanks!

Hi there! Yes we have seen jellyfish and Portuguese man o'wars (more common) at different beaches here before. There are calendars online you can check that tell you when the jellyfish are most likely to be at the beaches based on the moon cycle. I'll add a link the website we use. There are sometimes signs posted on the beach warning about jellyfish. If you see jellyfish/man o' wars washed up on the sand, I'd avoid the water for a day or two. If you are stung it hurts for a few hours. Heat can relieve the pain and hydrocortisone cream and vinegar help a lot. Rinse with ocean water not fresh water do not rub the skin (triggers stingers). We packed a little tube of hydrocortisone with us to the beach everyday just in case. In the year that we lived there we were only stung once so if you check the calendar I wouldn't worry about it at all. www.waikikiaquarium.org/interact/box-jellyfish-calendar/

I think you have the best snorkeling videos on the island! What time of day was it for dolphins, morning? You said about as far as the boat? What are your thoughts on weight belts for snorkeling?
@murphytravelsofficial3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes it was morning when we saw the dolphins. We've seen them up and down the cost of that area a few times and it's usually sometime between sunrise and 11am. The boat in the video was just past where the pipes come out in the ocean. There is coral and fish closer in though. The dolphins we saw were about halfway out to the pipes, so a lot closer. I haven't used a weight belt for snorkeling, but I've seen other people use them. Seems like it would be nice to use if you are a good swimmer and can already hold your breath well. It would probably make it easier to dive down and use less energy/air to stay down for longer. I don't know though, maybe I'll have to try one out sometime.

I wonder why there are so many reef fish at the surface at 20-30ft depths?
@murphytravelsofficial2 жыл бұрын
I believe they like the warm water that comes out of the outflow pipes 😀

@@murphytravelsofficial so, turns out global warming would be amazing 🤣

How deep is it there
@murphytravelsofficial2 жыл бұрын
I'd guess about 20-30ft in the deeper spots out past the pipes and then closer to shore there's more shallow snorkeling around 10ft or less.
