Outbreak 1 & 2 will always be among some of my favourite Resi games, they take a handful of Average Joe's & throw them into a zombie apocalypse instead of sending in a couple of highly-trained special forces members to deal with some egomaniac using the T-Virus for world domination; it was something different & I loved it Plus, undead ZOO ANIMALS!! C'mon, that's just instant WIN, right there!

Maybe the animals turned into zombies by eating zombie flesh, could explain the dogs. The only animals that attack in the zoo are the zombie elephant and lions.

Um... after listening to these videos, as well as playing both games for the past couple of days, I think that the voices in File 2 are more desirable than File 1... except for George... I liked how George sounded like some sort of Lovecraftian Author or something when he spoke in File 1. Other than that, I think that the voices in File 2 were a good improvement.

Kathy Day probably because the animals were put down before or after they turned, or that some of them were so damaged they couldn't reanimate back, given how the zoo got damaged.

There is this one area in the scenario, near the terrarium, where you can find the body of a tiger hanging from some tree branches (in fact, it is in the picture you see on the scenario select screen). I vaguely recall being able to investigate the tiger's corpse, and your character notes that he/she notices claw and bite marks all over its body. So maybe it was for similar reasons why the zombie outbreak in general started out with a few humans mutating, and then some of the victims were immediately devoured, while others were merely wounded and survived long enough to continue spreading the infection. Judging from the notes, Oscar the elephant was one of the first zoo animals to be fully mutated by the virus. So maybe he broke out and started rampaging throughout the whole zoo, causing some animals like the rhino and giraffe to be instantly gored and crushed to death, beyond repair, before they had the chance to succumb to the infection. The tiger could have been one of the few animals to avoid Oscar's rampage and last that long without infection, before it got injured by the zombie hyenas or lions and died clinging to the tree, either due to its fatal wounds or being gunned down as a mercy kill.

Well, regarding the herbivores, they were the first to fall due to being prey for the carnivores. The elephant was too big to be killed, and it ensured he was spared, but became infected killed anyone

I know this is like 6 years old, but if I remember right, those infected are still alive there not dead. If you die, the virus can't bring you back it more so does things to you while just barely keeping you alive.
