I can't believe it....I have 2 bull thistle plants in my garden which are 6' tall. I originally wanted to save the seeds to plant a complete border of them around my father's small corn field to keep the coons and ground hogs out. So I found this video and had no clue how beneficial they are...thank you!

Brilliant video. Nice to see that people care enough about important skills to teach others too. Maybe it would be easier to collect the seeds if you tie a thread around the fluff just before they fall off. Then you'd just have to rub the seeds off the bundle instead of picking them all off one at a time. You can make paint brushes with the fluff if you wind thread around the seed ends of it in a small bundle and setting it into a small hollow cane. Thanks again for the videos.

From what I understand all thistles are medicinal and beneficial; However the benefits and preparations change a little bit from different varieties. There are common benefits throughout all variety or cultivars. However some of the subtle properties change from one to the other.

After watching your video, I went and found a thistle. It was about half the size as your tallest one but still had cotton-like, purple flowering. I stripped it down to the stalk and bit in. I could eat it in a survival situation, but it seemed to possess an acquired taste. It also left somewhat of a numb but sweet aftertaste for a quite a long time. Do these taste better if you cook them? Thanks!

I came accross this video to study thistle weeds for my field training as part of the Teacher Prep workshop (1 week project). My group was fascinated with the defense system of the field thistle plants, and then I came accross this video. I do have some issue with the gall bladder, and I will give it a try. I wonder if your communities can help preserve the strength and the territory of the nature from climate change by voting for democrats who do care about these issues. (I am not promoting the party, and I don't belong to that party. I just want to protect our mother earth)
