It sounds like they could've made the tiles transparent (if they were gonna be thin anyway, might as well). This not only lets you score them without removing them to check underneath, but also it would've allowed for nicer background art on the boards as it'd all be visible. You know, actual towns and prairies and whatnot. Maybe in a second edition if it does well enough? Good stuff. I see myself playing and enjoying this with my casual-game family.

I see comments that this polyomino games is similar to Planet Unknown. Which I was able to get a copy of a few months ago. This game looks interesting too and I appreciate your review. Sounds like this game is closer to medium weight, which I consider for Planet Unknown, the few times I’ve been able to play with people so far.

Not convinced - by nature this is a multiplayer solitaire game, which can be fine but they don’t scale up well as you’ve not got much interest in what other players do on their turn. But then they say that the drafting mechanism doesn’t work well at lower player counts. In a very crowded market, I didn’t see anything in the gameplay they discussed that was compelling enough to overcome this issue.

That's a tough one. I love both of them. I may give the nod to Planet Unknown due to theme and depth, but this one may hit the table more. That being said, I love them both.

I don't mind it. I think a lot of people like animals, now if it got so saturated that like 50% of games released in a 5 year span were anthropomorphic I'd definitely be with you, that's too much. For this game in particular I like that they went with it because with the Western theme shooting & bandits are involved. I'd rather it not be humans. Animals shouldn't be shot either, but having them in the game instead of humans gives it more of a campy, silly vibe so it doesn't focus on the gun violence, more of the puzzlyness of the game with a bit of themeing. Kind of like the difference between movies like Clue (the focus goes to solving the mystery, not as much the murder itself versus watching a psychological thriller serial killer movie.) You get two completely different vibes from those two types of movies. I think the anthropomorphic animals kept the vibe of this game in the right place, with the focus on the strategy & puzzle.

No, a pass. For all the vibes that KingDomino is fun, and QueenDomino made a mess of the game. Simple means i can bust it out with drunk newb players... This one, no chance!
