Conor, I really enjoyed this video. It recalls your earlier videos in which you focused more on language learning and travel. Seeing a lesser traveled region of Ukraine was great. Citadel built by the Romanian Ruler called "STEFAN CEL MARE". Sure, there were turks, russians, tatars, gagaus, jews and so on. But mainly Romanians live and lived there. They still talk Romanian in Izmail, Tatarbunary and few in Odessa.

Cool video, but this land, except Akkerman, was never part of Ottoman Empire! This land was part of Principality of Moldavia until 1812, when was stolen by russians. In 1940 was occupied again by Russia, after Ribbentrop-Molotov treaty. So Ukraine is the owner of stolen romanian land.

When you say that Russians&Ukrainians appeared in Bujak after Romanians in 1940, you should first see some videos (even here in KZbin) about Romanian-controled Danube Delta where Russian-speaking people or their successors are still present despite that area has been lost to Turkey (and further Romania) in 1856. Originally Danube Delta together with Bujak and whole Bessarabia were joined to Russian Empire in 1812 (and btw Danube Delta and Bujak weren't under Moldovan control - they were under direct Turkish control since 1484-1536 and their population were mostly Tatars/Gagauzes and Bulgarians, who both are still present in Ukrainian Bujak). So you see, Danube Delta during 1812-1856 (and there are still Russian speakers present) vs. Bujak during 1812-1918. Or do you really believe brief Romanian control in 1918-1940 (only 22 years - even Ukraine's independence is lasting more time) has fundamentally changed there population structure?

Note, that Moldovan Principality was formed only in 1350 AD, and in those times it had small area in what-is-now North of Romanian-controlled Moldova (certainly Budjak wasn't it part originally). So you see that Moldova controlled Budjak probably even less than 100 years (maybe even few decades). But ok, let's suppose 100 years + 22 years of Romanian control in 1918-1940 = 122 years! Compare that to Russian/USSR/Ukrainian control for 106 years (1812-1918) + 51 years (1940-1991) + 29 years (1991-2020) = 186 years totally!!! Or direct Turkish control in 1484-1812 = 328 years totally !!! You see, Romania and Moldova are last in this queue. And yes, ethnical Moldovans live in Budjak but their number is even smaller than count of Bulgarians+Gagauzes, not even taking Russians and Ukrainians.

@@datboi3136 Russian Empire got Budjak as a result of its victory in a series of wars against Turkey (1768-1812). Those victories were paid with tens or even hundreds of thousands of lives of Russian soldiers (not only ethnically Russian but Ukrainian, Tatar, Caucasic etc.: for example, Ukrainian general from Poltava region was known to be rocket/missile technology pioneer in wars of 1768-1791). Budjak was under direct control of Ottoman Empire, it wasn't part of Moldova (vassal of Ottomans for that moment). So what steeling you see there? Ottoman Empire ceded to Russian Empire its own, directly controlled during 328 years land. Btw, for everything Romania and Moldova have today they should be grateful to Russian Empire and Austrian Empire who fought against Ottomans for centuries and removed them from Balkans as a result. Romania in "gratitude" only intrigued against them with the help of Berlin, Paris and London and by their mercy caught for itself large area in 1918.

It doesn't matter who held the land for what period , it only matters who it originally belonged to , and it belonged to the dacians , so it is obvious it is you that stole it from us . Your native lands are somehwere near the shores of the Volga , whilst ours are right there , in the Carpato-danubiano-pontic space , it is obvious you stole from us and you won't admit it . Atleast respect budjak , repsect Stephen the Great for the towers you have to visit there and respect the few romanians that still live there for they should be the real owners of the region and you know it
