I landed on this video after watching your Bennachie video as i was curious about your experience with the copper spur. I bought one this year for my walk from Aviemore to Aberdeen. First night, one of my dogs managed to cleuk two wee holes in the floor and I also had a broken clip. The Americans rave about the tent but i think theres definitely a strength sacrifice for the weight saving. Im still on the hunt for a lightweight tent strong enough for the dogs lol. I much prefer a freestanding tent but im away to try the Durston x-mid when it arrives next week. Great video btw. I love a Loch Muick camp too.

Thank you. Yeah, I was really disappointed. Such a shame as it’s a great footprint. I’ve ended up going with something slightly heavier now but more robust. I look forward to hearing how you get on with the Durston.

This is ace, I know it wasn’t about the walking but what distance did you do? Also how far is it to travel and is the bothy always open?

The full circuit is 7.5 miles. It’s relatively flat which means it should be completed in about 3.5 hours. There was deep snow in places and icy which slowed our pace and I was stopping for video and photos. The wind was high. It’s about. 15 minute drive from the town of Ballater which is stunning and lovely for a meal or ice cream. Bothy is always open and has a plentiful supply of firewood and there are candles. You can easily stay in the Bothy. I suspect it would be busier in the summer months but most people who go to these places are off the same mindset and as a result are lovely and friendly.
