I have an R7 and i was using the Lexar 1667x cards but wanted to get something with a higher write. So I ended up with 2 Sandisk Extreme and my benchmarks I am glad to see the Lexar was 120mbs sustained but the Sandisk was 270mbs. I am always on the lookout for a good card and its hard to trust names we dont know to well. So when I am shopping again I can atleast add this brand to ones I would consider.

Thanks Scott, I would definitely use the Exascend in my R7 as since I bought it last year I’ve only used v30 cards due to the high cost of v90s. Had a great trip to Colombia for birds and found that I got by for photos, but definitely had some corruption or some zero byte video files as who wouldn’t want to video some beautiful hummingbirds. This faster card would fix that problem.

Nice, it’s a shame these cards have so many logos and they still are confusing and are so varied in standards. Sony for instance not publishing crucial information. I opted for 2 Kingston Canvas v90 cards and they seam great. They came across as great value but ideally I would like Sandisk Extreme Pro in v90. 128gb size would be great in my R7. Keep up the good work and congrats on the channel growth

Timely video as I'm checking out card options....It would go in my 9 day old R7....with my purchase came an extra battery and a Delkin 64 gb V90 card...not a name that comes to mind as a card brand, but it works ok for the limited testing I've done with my running and jumping dogs...

I've been using Delkin Devices Power V90 cards for 2+ years. I replaced LexarPro cards that kept locking up my R6. I use two of the Delkins in my R7 and one in my R5. Never a problem. They work great. I shoot wildlife and birds. Congrats on your new R7.

Clearly I'm not up to (card) speed😉...I've put off upgrading from a 5D MK3 (still solid for portrait, or abandoned shoots)....but challenging for fast action....the jump to the R7 is a quantum leap for me. I'm adapting my L glass which is working great...but will be picking up the RF 100-400 for the weight trade off and price point....better wild life photography is my goal....cheers

I'm glad I saw this video! I do bird photography with my Canon R7 and have been using the card recommended by the guy at my photography store - a Delkin Black UHS-II V90-II sdxc 64 GB card (that size was all I could afford.) I've been careful to always feather my bursts and I've only hit the buffer limit a small number of times, but boy, is it frustrating when it happens! Of course I'm hoping that I win your give-away card, but I've written down the Exascend name and data for when I have saved up enough to afford a newer, bigger and faster card. An excellent analysis, thanks. This may seem like a trivial issue, but I really dislike the locking tab on the side of most cards, intended to prevent accidental erasure when in the locked position. I don't get the point, since I can't see why I would want to put a locked card back in the camera. Moreover, it too easily gets locked inadvertently when the card is removed for file transfer, and - if I fail to notice - I'm unable to write the next time I go shooting. I would actually pay extra for a card that lacks this "feature". Although I'm sure there are others, I'm currently using Pro Master Rugged Class II V90 cards, with write speeds of 260 Mb/sec (presumably max). Feel free to call me a luddite, but this is plenty fast enough to keep my R7 buffer from filling up :)

Great test! I’d love to know what software you used to get those graphs. I’d like to compare the ExAscend to some other cards that have been recommended to me as fast, such as the Kingston Canvas React Plus. I recently picked up a refurbished R7, largely based on your reviews and videos of you using it in Alaska, where I used to live. I’m glad Stuart’s is still around.

I just used Final Cut Pro and layered the wave forms and lined them up from their first click. Any video to audio editor should work

As I missed a shot of a long eared owl while waiting for the buffer. I was traveling to Helgoland just for birding and it wasn't the only thing I missed to a slow card.😮 After that I started to research but there are so many contradicting storys about their speed in a specific camera. I have two silver v30 Lexar and one v90 Gold. Out of the three, only one of the silver ones doesn't result in corrupted images on my R6 and R7. I bought the Sony and am happy with it but I wish I knew it wasn't as good with the bursts as the Exascend!

I have looked at v90 cards, and they are soooo much higher than even v30/60 UHSII cards. If I had this card, I would use it in my R8, and use both of my current SanDisk UHSI cards with my 6D. I eventually want to get some long lenses for wildlife, maybe some sports, and possibly astrophotography. I need a Moon bazooka! lol A fast v90 card would help with the wildlife & sports shots!

File size changes significantly when you adjust the ISO. My R7 displays a buffer size of 87 shots at ISO 100 but only 46 at ISO 6400. When you set auto ISO it defaults to 46 shots.

Thanks to your videos, I plan to use the Exascend Essential with my new Canon R7 mounted on the Sirui CT-3204 Tripod and PH-20 Gimbal or SIRUI P-325FL Carbon Fiber Camera Monopod Kit. All items I discovered while watching your videos. I do have a question. I have the Canon 100-500. I am thinking about either the 24 to 70 or jumping to the 24 to 105 rf (when it becomes available). Good job,interestingly I use on my r7 a SanDisk extreme pro 300 mb/s card and can't shoot over 15fps for birds in flight,perched birds its ok but 30fps the Wright speed of sd cards is to slow need cf express but sad to say canon will not be bring out a pro apsc body.
