Wildcamping in the Cambrian Mountains

A short hike into the Cambrian Mountain range in mid Wales. Spent the night in the Aquaquest Hideaway Hooped bivi under the ever present British Army Basha

Superb there bro. I loved the approach in - them deep vales in the Cambrians are always impressive. A good pitch there - set up. A god bit of grub and the wind wasn't to much bother in the night. It was a lot breezier on the other side of the hill 😁but i quite like it when the weathers a bit "adverse" Last time I was over that way, we pitched just East of the source of the Wye, the sky was amazing. Definitely be heading back (several times) this year.

Great video thanks. I looked at reviews of bivvy and lots complained about leaking. Obviously you had the basha protection but do you consider it waterproof?

Its really hard to tell if a bivi is waterproof because of condensation. With the set up I had here, I was completely covered by the basha and had the hood section open all night, so was bone dry in the morning. When I used a similar setup at the Bleaklow crash site kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5SufIeMp9OSmNU the bottom half of the bivi was in the direct rain, and because the wind was constantly changing direction, I had the hoop closed. It was definitely wet in the morning, but not swamped out, which i thought it was going to be in the middle of the night because it felt cold and wet. (turned out to be mainly just the cold). I really like the bivi because its very lightweight and roomy, but in all honesty, because the closing the hoop means your going to get wet, Ill probably switch back to an open bivi and basha combo and getting a replacement MOD gortex bivi. kzbin.info/www/bejne/banXZpKJptRsfJY To go back to you question though, it is waterproof and I've not had any noticeable leaks. Ive used it multiple times in different weather conditions and even on a dry night, if the hoop is closed, there are small puddles on the inside.
