It takes me back to A level Geography field trip in the 19_0s, when us Sixth Fomers camped in the late October half-term week by that very lake (Llyn Du'r Arddu) about three-quarters of the way up Yr Wyddfa. It rained the whole time and there was no sleep that night, all dressed in our wet clothes in our sleeping bags all night and some very unkind banter directed at myself for having been slow on the walk up. The lake rose in the night so some of their tents were in water by morning - serves them right. I surged ahead on the walk down, glad to be returning. We had already been up Twll Du and in the Carneddau earlier in the week. I was refused the last trip across Crib Goch, thank God. Been back quite a few times and loved it. Schooldays are the worst of your life.

Beautiful stuff, Joss. Great drone shots as well. Slightly bizarrely, I've never been up Snowdon from that side - seems really quiet where you are considering how close it is to the tourist track. Nobody at the lake either? Love it mate. All the best, Dan 👍🏻
@jossthomas1234564 жыл бұрын
Thanks Dan.. Ive been up Snowdon quite a lot of times over the years and have always avoided the Llanberis path and this was the first time Ive walked it. It was nice to get away from the hordes on the path and get into the quiet seclusion of the cwm below. Its classed as the easiest way up so the tourist path is full of people who, at that point are so knackered that they wouldnt dream of dropping down lower, to a lake! Its a great spot.and the cliff is a classic rock climbing venue. Atb buddy and thanks for watching, Joss

@@jossthomas123456 Yeah, Snowdon is incredible - but the thousands of people on it are a real downside. Last time I went up camped at the old quarry at the bottom of Allt Maenderyn the night before and set off up at 4.30am - deserted then! 😄👍🏻

It depends which way you are going up but you might be able to get away with an overnight car park below the Watkin Path, (very scenic) in Rhyd Ddu and on certain parts of Llanberis High St- thats where I parjed when I filmed this (could also get the Sherpa Bus up to Pen y Pass) Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
