Thanks, always interesting to hear from fellow Brommie enthusiasts. That large borough bag at the front has proven to be excellent. I have learnt that the Brommie isn't so keen carrying the heavyweight wool/canvas kit. Will be going lighter on future camps 👍

I totally agree with you about the Brompton. We have a couple of folders but only for occasional use - and as such could not really justify the cost of a top folder like the Brompton - but in an ideal world we would have gone for it. Have you watched Wiltshire Man recently ? Good camp Buddy 👍

Cheers Giles, the Brompton is an awesome machine. I've wanted one for ages and am glad I went for it. I've been subscribed to Wiltshire Man for a while and always enjoy his videos. He beat me to it with the Brompton Bushcrafting!! I need to lighten the load next time out, may have to take a leaf from your book and ditch the wool blanket! Thanks as always for watching Giles 👍

Nice video. Coincidentally, I have the same bags and saddle on my Brompton...although I use the sprung B17 model for extra comfort. However, I didn't know about that water bottle bag, so now have one of those on order. Be careful with that Borough front bag - I managed to cut my finger on the sharp plastic edges around the mounting plate on mine. It might be worth checking yours and file off any sharp edges. Cheers.

Hi Graeme, thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it. The bags are great, I leave the bottle pouch and saddle bag on all the time and they come in really handy. Thanks for the advice on the borough bag, I only use that for camping and haven't experienced any issues this far, but will check it out 👍

Great to support products Made in Britain and a cracking job with the fire starting too.👍 Was great to catch up and have a good banter round the fire I had a good laugh at the segment on me trying to capture the der on camera lol.😂 ... I'm a Kent lass - love the downs - but am living in Devon now. Have had a Brompton for a couple of years, used mostly for commuting, but want to experiment with a bit of touring/bike packing/bushcraft escapes too. Enjoyed your set-up - I sleep cold, so am anxious about staying warm at night so tend to favour tent or tarp/bivi combo - but that limits fire (without hot stove/tent). Seems that the traditional set-up is best for simplicity and fire safety - but I've yet to see a bushcrafter who has slept well under that set up? Good luck honing your set-up with the Brommie ;)
@barneysbimbles
@barneysbimbles Жыл бұрын
Hi Lou, thanks for watching. I'm loving my Brompton (it's sat next to me on the train as I write!). You're right about the traditional setup being a bit troublesome for sleep. Unfortunately a broken night's sleep is a given when you need to re-stock the fire. My next Brommie camp will be more conventional with a tarp and bivvy setup. I think that will be more suitable for the Brommie because it'll also lighten the load somewhat. I thoroughly recommend giving it a go though, it's great fun and I'll definitely be back out with mine very soon. I just wish I could get some off-road tyres for it! 👍

@@barneysbimbles there's a gap in the market for small knobblies isn't there... maybe Brompton will fill it themselves with a collaboration. But Schwalbe Marathons or Marathon Plus' are pretty bombproof tyres even if they lack a more offroad tread.

Ooft... Delirium (or 'Delerium Tremens' as it used to be called before the pussies took over 😅) is a belter mate, I always think of it like a less volatile Duvel but much smoother. The discerning gent's Special Brew! I've been on the wagon for the last 6 weeks but I fell off at the weekend because Tesco are doing La Chouffe at 2 quid a bottle... Anyway, appreciate the shout out sir. Lovely camp, and the way you've got that Brommie set up with those fine crafted add ons is something to behold. I've been cycling to work recently too but doing so has put me off bikepacking on my days off as my arse is already sore. But this has given me some inspiration to just wince and have another go. Shame about the lack of kip but we all get that now and again eh? Cheers Gavin, top vid as ever - and here's to a great Autumn! Rich 👍

'The discerning gents special brew' 😂 I picked up a La Chouffe the other day but not cracked it open yet, might save it for the next camp! Tesco does have a cracking beer aisle though and there are worse ways to fall off the wagon (like drinking a can of special brew!). You're right about the bike saddles. It can feel somewhat like you're perched on a Mach 3 Turbo! I upgraded to a Brooks saddle recently and it's been a game changer. Thanks as always for watching Rich 👍

#buybritish 😉👍 Choc Hobnobs but I can only dunk in tea. The Brompton looks alright loaded up, Gavin. Can you get tyres for it that are like MTB tyres? Half road tread down the middle and half off road around the edge. Great camp out and great spot, Gav. 'Ere, you can't beat that fire bowl, can you?! Good old Giles Binyon 😁
@barneysbimbles
@barneysbimbles Жыл бұрын
Definitely only dunk biccies in tea. Dunking in coffee just sets you up for disappointment. The Brompton is great, I've been using it a lot through the week on my commute into London. You can get some more suitable off road tyres for it, but I shall probably wear out the existing tyres first. The Brommie will be out for another camp very soon, will definitely lighten the load though to make it easier to ride. Thanks as always for watching Tim 👍

Hi and thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it. I've just watched your video and liked how you had your bike loaded. I'm heading out for another Brompton camp soon and will be loading the bike differently and have scaled back on some of the kit that I'm taking so that most of it goes into the front bag (a Borough roll top bag), I've then got a small Haversack to strap on to the rear rack. I will most likely cover that in a future video. Merry Christmas 👍
