You are a man after my own heart - someone who is not chasing the almighty dollar. My dad and I were the same - money was never our god. Life is so much simpler with the basic needs of life, and a few luxuries. Look around at all the folks with big houses and garages, and dollars to donuts, the garages are full of things they JUST HAD TO HAVE, but no longer need or use, and the cars are parked in the driveway! My wife and I, now in our mid to late 70's, are and have been each others' caretakers for the past 53 years, and will continue to look after each other. Ciera is blessed to have you, and vice versa - you complement each other.

Smart choice keeping the cabin ! You'll never be able to replace it for what you've got into it .... Life isn't always about money ... You just need to be content ..... A lot of people never find that. Seems like the two of you have, as well as a middle ground for you both .... Stay well , be happy , love the life you live .... peace ✌

I sure do admire you and the life you have chosen. Unfortunately I am old now and could not do what you have done. I do live in a real log cabin that was built in 1938 out of solid logs, and have a stove very much like the one you have. I was making my own firewood from felling through splitting, but it's too much work for me now so I have been buying cords of split white oak locally. It's fantastic wood. Anyway thanks to you and Ciera and Skeeter for sharing with us!

Thanks for sharing this with us.

Would be cool if you literally did deck that cabin out. Full wrap around porch, some parts screened in. That sounds idea plus it would preserve the main structure very well. Also adding shutters would be a cool first project. An old cooktop wood stove would be cool to install in addition to the regular wood stove. Would help heat the door end of the living space. Where’s Skeeter?! Cheers from NY!

F*ck yeah bud! Get it! I'm glad you didn't decide to sell. Property is something that is finite and finding a place as secluded as that is super hard to come by. Keep these videos coming. I'm 70yrs old now and I really enjoy your videos or what ever they call them now. Tell you what, first time I seen the butt and pass style of building a log cabin, impressed me. Praying for an uneventful, smooth recovery for Cierra! I know the conversation about the cabin, and the one planned, had to be tough but like you said, it all worked out for the best in the end. And you’re not one to dwell on what could’ve been, you just got right to work and got so much done in just a few days! Nice job all the way around! Since you have the snowmobile, maybe it would be a good time to keep your eye open for a four wheeler, this way you could use it not only to get in and out quicker but you could haul more things as needed and it would be handy for brush piles and logs and things around the cabin. Just something to think about.
