Where I wish I knew more is with respect to ground preparation and foundations. Maybe that's beyond the scope of Ryan’s Shed Plans.

The best place to raise kids especially in the beginning is right where you are! Teaches them to think for themselves, build creativity and what it takes to take care of yourself in any situation!! I loved my summers at my grandparents farm with no running water or electricity!

Love what you guys do out there. Ciera, I’m an Orthotist in Michigan and it would be a good idea to get a functional ACL knee brace to protect you knee from mishap until and after your surgery. Things can go horribly wrong if you over stress your knee.

I'm not an orthotist but I agree with you, Evr. It's just common sense to take precautions to protect that knee. It reminds me of all the ACL injuries in football. They can't play for months, so please be careful Cierra and get that brace ok? Take care both of you🤗❣️♥️💚

We are moving to our cabin in northern Wisconsin in a few months but are already dreaming about having a new cabin project further north into the woods! Great plan for raising kids with limited electronics. Our daughter with 5 kids is raising her kids without any TV or electronics and it’s amazing how much they use their imagination and play outside. We recently cancelled our TV and don’t miss it a bit! We just watch great You Tube channels like you two!! God Bless❤️

Cool. Nice little cabin. I'd move that propane tank outdoors. Leaks do happen, safety first. Most off griders put them outdoors, opposite side where needed, stove, refrigerator ( yes there are propane ran refrigerators), etc., drill a hole, run the conduct, fill in gaps around the hole(s). I'd also plow a drive to your place, if you can walk it, you can drive it, think of the inevitable- someone gets sick, has a injury - storms etc., makes access easier in times of emergency.

Correct, propane tank ALWAYS outdoors. A long trek over rugged terrain dangerous for some one about to have knee surgery, though we admire your togetherness and love.

It's always good to see you and Cierra together in your videos. Having a woman with a man helps to keep him honest and trustworthy. You're a fine example of what a man should be. Not some cry-baby entitled wimp that needs everything handed to him. From what you were saying about having kids off-grid is what we need. Technology is needed in society but not so much at home. Working with their hands and mind will make them better. You're a good example for them to follow. Your father did right in your upbringing. I'm sure you will be a good father too, someday. Rehab after surgery is pretty intense, so being in the medical field, such a patient must have access to the rehab place for in-person (2-3x weekly!) and home visitation sessions. Not to mention post-surgical care. So your big cabin, with automobile access is the place to be. Who takes care of the chickens and eggs, and the ducks when you're at the remote cabin? The canvas looks great. Guess you'll be able to sled in heavy stuff hauled behind a snow machine.

That is a nice healthy life style. Mine was similar in my younger years. I grew up in Alaska and am still here but when you’re in your 70’s you have to adjust. I did a few remote cabins, hauling materials by boat, snowmobile and 4 wheelers. It was gratifying and peaceful. I miss it. Be safe and enjoy what you have while you are able.

Overall I really like your mindset and philosophy. I would love a getaway place that is more remote in nature. As your family expands, you will probably find yourself wanting to be around more like-minded people/families who share your values. Sometimes more civilized areas have more amenities that are useful for young families.
