The neat thing to me is if we get a multiplayer type setting where people can either be the tripods or human survivors, and neither really know where anyone is, nor where the player tripods are. So the humans are trying to survive while the tripod players just do their thing, targeting anything and everything that moves for the most part. Not only that, but anyone who plays as humans also has to survive each other. As their desperation for food and resources grow more and more as time goes on. Likely leading them to make alliances, camp out in certain areas of the map/world. While taking from those who aren't as lucky... only to likely eventually be found by the tripods anyway and reduced to a small band of nobodies again. Sounds like it has tons of potential, especially as players can be both tripod and human, and each has their own general objectives and needs for survival. The tripod players needing humans to feed their crew as well as to spread the red weed/mist to make the land uninhabitable to human survivors. Likely requiring them to get special equipment or something in order to go back to those areas, as they likely have a lot of loot, food, and water left behind from the earlier days of the invasion.

This game looks very interesting and I'd love to play it. However, I don't see it having a whole heck of a lot of replayability over a long term. It basically seems like it's going to be either "How can you survive for five days before the martians start dying?" or "How many humans can you kill before you get sick and die?" Unless they're planning to consistantly update it with new scenarios, new maps, etc or even change the lore so the aliens do survive. Even then there's only so many ways you can tell the same story.

It has infinite potential if they don’t stick to strict lore. Meaning, creating scenarios involving various types of terrain and alien threats or having several types of combat ie frontal assault, stealth, or strategic stuff ala an RTS mode

​​@@coolkid9967 Something more to do with the red weed perhaps. Give it time after it starts to flourish, the air becomes toxic. After more of the land is terraformed, there's less places that are safe. The surviving clusters of humans are then forced into smaller areas, making them much easier for the martians to catch, not to mention food becoming more scarce, leading to humans forming factions and fighting each other.

Nuclear explosion. you see and then finally hear it! Even at that distance you'd still get damage from the shock wave. Severe shockwave damage could extend to about a half mile. Severe thermal damage would extend out about a mile. Flying debris could extend up to a few miles. Initial (prompt) nuclear radiation for a 10-Kt blast could expose unprotected people within about 3/4 mile of the explosion site to lethal radiation dose. Buggered if you go anywhere near that location, so how much of the map would be OOB then?

So, you can play as a martian! Awesome! The ground experience looks perfect! Thats what i want, and when the opportunity arises to be able to just sit and watch and feel them move, without being killed! Just experiencing them is a game in itself. Come on guys. The house destruction could be much much better. It needs much more particles and smoke. Once the smoke clears, replace the model with a burning rubble one. Right now the house looks like it's made from cardboard. No thickness to walls etc.

I think a nuke would likely kill it very easily. It seems like the differential pressure from the explosion alone would result in throwing the tripod like an unstable building even if the shields could stop the Shockwave. Equal and opposite reaction should result in a force equivalent in shield area coverage multiplied by the pressure per sirface area of the blast. I mean they are aliens so maybe the found a way to violate the law of equal and opposite reactions but if that's the case... why are they even attacking at all.

its a good foundation to start from, needs a lot of work, Mainly the boolean environment destruction, fire clipping and general janky tripod animation. Everything else, like grass tufts and general furniture props can be sorted later on

Well from the actual movies, we all know the Martian machines were invincible until an Earth Virus killed them off. So i wonder how this game depicts and follows the plot of the real movies. The only thing I wish they'd change from the movie is the Tripods being preburried, and instead having them come in the metal cylinders from the book. That way you could see if you could try to sneak into the "enemy base" and try to steal alien technology.
