Thanks Louise, Wildie ll is out very soon. A film taking you to lost ponds, moats and abbeys of southern England.

This is carp but not the crazy commercial or circuit chase for named fish , more at one with natural surroundings and fish that have never seen a hook , just beautiful and wild ! Thank you

Nice film, with some slightly inappropriate music overlay. I wonder, too, whether a less doleful narration would be an improvement. All well-intentioned, though, so subscribed.

Beautiful and relaxing film...although the carp shown are definitely not wildies or 'ferel' carp. They are simply small carp with modern genetics. True wildcarp look visually completely different.

Many of the carp caught had feral characteristics, admittedly the one carp in the film looked less feral. The term ‘Wildie’ merely refers to what anglers affectionately call them, I don’t believe true wild carp exist in the UK, it’s a hotly disputed topic, hence why the narration was carefully worded.

@@solitude-films You're correct that true original wildcarp are almost extinct in UK, with only possibly some remaining in forgotten moats and secluded farm ponds or private estates. The last ones in England that I caught were way back in the 1960's early 70's period. However I have caught the ancient wildcarp strain in certain waters in Scandinavia, Russia, Ukraine, America and Australia...although even those mentioned countries the main rivers, lakes and canals have been heavily stocked with the various modern fast-growing strains, so any remaining wildies soon become cross-bred. The Netherlands do often stock fish that retain some of the original 'wild' strain genetics crossbred with mirrors & commons of the more modern genetic strains. The best places to search for 'wildies' nowadays in Europe and Asia are old castle moats and forgotten pools in the wild forests of private land estates. Generally true wildcarp "wildies" are extremely thin and muscular averaging weights in 3lb to 7lb. They rarely reach over 10lb in weight. Although some wildies exceed twenty, even thirty lbs in some wilderness regions of places I've fished, such as Russia and Ukraine.

Awesome information. I'm american and the carp are simply a bother for Fishman. I see how all other cultures have sport or food in carp.

@@dakotac9547 I know in the States there are pockets of anglers who now regard carp just like the British and Europeans, but I know generally a crossbow has been the favoured means to catch a carp in the US.
