a magical memory for me was being given permission to fish franchise manor some 30 years ago and all alone on a truly atomspheric pond i caught wild carp after wild carp on the float , i returned another summer but alas the water authority had plundered it ....much the same happened to me at ashburnham lake where i used to guest fish for pike , it was soul destroying to see the huge nets of the water authority taking the ancient specimen fish from such a magnificent lake ....i am sure enough fish would have been left to make a come back though .

Brayton pond. Aspatria in Cumbria contains only a wild torpedo like common strain. Biggest maybe 16lb but most barely doubles. Was stocked when as part of an estate containing a monastery in an unknown period historically
