@valiantwarrior4517
@valiantwarrior4517 2 жыл бұрын
I did some research. It is possible to find fossilized pearls. During fossilization, the mineral aragonite that most pearls are made of is replaced with calcite, so they aren’t as obvious as the shiny modern pearls we know. A cross section will still show the growth layers. It says Florida is a good place to find them, either loose or still in the fossil mollusk that formed them. But the rarity of natural pearls combined with time and fossilization makes them even more rare to discover. It’s quite an interesting subject. Pearl cysts, glass pearls from meteorite impacts, pseudo pearls formed in caves, octopi pearls… Too much to go on about in KZbin comments. I recommend that anyone who is interested look up more info. 🙂

Kyle, if you come out west you guys will need to hit up the Blue Forest petrified wood beds, any if the fossil fish quarries, and a few mineral areas in Wyoming and Utah. If you want agate bone you will need to do private property digs, as anything else is illegal to collect vertibrate fossils outside of education digs. If you make it to central Utah where I live, hit me up. Few areas where I grew up where we could look for fossil shell conglomerates, red horn coral, and crinoid star bits. Btw, those oysters you guys found are as cool as the crystal oysters with the orange stuff

@@WILDKYLE I can email you what is here anytime, if you want. Be prepared for mountain hiking and thinner atmosphere; the good fossils and minerals are typically not easy to get to compared to your neck of the woods. But it is worth it. Kyle, great video as usual, great camera work and those oysters are great! Also, uncommon, I would say. You should cut some slabs around a cm thick so sun can shine through them and sell them as specimens when polished. I liked the wing ideas! Also, the small pieces and "off cuts" you would have left over would make amazing art pieces as ingredients in more mosaics. I can think of so many creative ideas and even if you only sell the oysters whole I think they would make you a nice hunk of change just for their fossil value. You guys ought to go back and load up on them... I've never seen those in any gem and mineral show I have been to. Shoot, embed some flat unpolished pieces in resin for coasters or paperweights or just for display....let your imagination go wild.
