It always feels great to get back to my old stomping grounds! I grew up near this river where you can find absolutely beautiful agatized coral geodes. I have always been amazed that these are literally a fossil and a gem/mineral all in one! I can't help but imagine this area being a shallow coral reef 25 million years ago bustling with life. One of my cousins got me into rocks, minerals and gems. She literally has a huge room with display cases filled with all she has collected from ceiling to floor. I have a lot of rough and have instructed my son that when I pass, don't throw the rocks away as some are valuable. Will give him something to do researching.

I'm still trying to find good spots and I'm sure it will come in time.
