I just bought this camera and it is on its way! I was starting to feel doubts as I have never used a camera quite like this and it is a bit high for my budget but this video helps me feel way better :) Thank you!!! Keep up the great work.

I just watched your reel - great shots and I love the little touches like the title 'in the scene' and that cool pull-out to the drone shot. I live in South Africa so filming wildlife on low-budget safaris is a hobby of mine. I currently shoot with my trusty XT3 but would love a pocket 4K and have been wondering what it would be like for wildlife because the footage is just gorgeous and I love the ability to crop in on the sensor to gain reach, like going to 2.6k or HD in a pinch - like for birds. I'm a little cautious about the lack of dust sealing and curious to know how it would handle the African temperatures but I guess I won't know until I try :). I will also miss the autofocus, but the footage is so good I might still do it. Thanks for sharing and good luck with the dreams. PS. I'm sure you know this by now but I believe you can power the Pocket with an external battery like a Vmount.

great video, good pros and cons. What lens have you used? I have a bmpcc 6K and also wanna film wildlife with it, so i was thinking about smth like 150-600mm, something really big and wildlife special. can ou tell about your kit pls?

I use the Panasonic 100-400mm f/4-6.3, Panasonic 50-200mm f/2.8-4, Panasonic 14mm for landscapes. The 150-600mm sounds very promising! It will offer a 1200 mm equivalent? Thanks for watching!

Thanks’ great video. Question: how do you deal with the camera fan noise when using a camera mounted microphone?
@georgeschnipper2 жыл бұрын
I fix it in post hahah... It's far from an ideal solution, but I use my zoom mic to record the audio separately and then add it on the image. But with a little bit of post audio tweaking you can remove most of the fan noise: the audio should be fine for Instagram or KZbin clips.

Hi, has lockdown been lifted in Russia or is there still restrictions on traveling within the country?
@georgeschnipper4 жыл бұрын
We haven't had many restrictions on travelling within Russia, that's why the majority of Russians are currently travelling within the country. It's mainly travel outside of Russia that's problematic.

Hi George, really enjoyed this video. You know, I think you are pretty much the only person using a Blackmagic Pocket 4K for wildlife! I've been watching because I am very very tempted by the 6K Pro. I am a stills wildlife shooter and youtuber. Photograph from a vehicle mainly with all sorts of power supply. I am looking at trying to improve the quality of my video. Recently picked up the R5 (for 80% stills 20% video). The plan was to have a second body Canon R6 alongside for 80% video 20% stills. Now, having seen your footage and the announcement of the 6K pro, with ND filters, new battery, tilt screen etc... I am thinking, why have two cameras that do the same thing...why not try a cine camera. I do have a need for a second stills camera but can keep one of my existing DSLRs for that. Sorry for the long form question but I wanted to know from someone familiar with wildlife and the Blackmagic - would you choose the BM6KPro, over an R6 for general wildlife filmaking (mainly short clips) and story telling from around the campfire/travelling? I'm sure you've noticed how careful one has to be with vibration in the shot, could this make the 6k unusable with a supertelephoto 600mm? Thanks for the work you have put in to this video - very impressive.

Hi Will! Thanks for commenting! If you are ok with carrying a separate stills camera, then I believe the BM 6 Pro is a great choice. Throw in an external v mount battery and you’ll be one happy filmmaker. Though, I am not a blackmagic fanboy and do see some limitation of the bm. I simply prefer the clean, soft footage of the bm compared to Canon’s more sharp and contrasty output. Hope that makes sense!

@@georgeschnipper Thanks for the quick answer George, yes the footage certainly does look beautiful - a lot of that is probably operator skill!

Hey.. a really nice review. I am stuck between BMPCC 6K Pro and Canon R5 for a wildlife documentary. Considering R5 shooting limitations, I consider it still a better option because of Autofocus which is a must need for wildlife. BMPCC 6K pro is really an amazing cinema camera, but what's your opinion on that?
@georgeschnipper3 жыл бұрын
I know that autofocus is a must for wildlife photography, but for video I think I prefer manual focus. What shooting limitations does that R5 have?
@lensandstories24373 жыл бұрын
@@georgeschnipper yes true. But Canons Animal eye autofocus is amazing specially for shooting moving and fast subjects. Limitations means I'm talking about heating issues. But it's manageable.

Very unrelated question: how hard is it to get into Bangor university? Also, is it harder to get in an international student? I have a 3.6 GPA, and I am worried that I am not good enough. I plan on being a zoology major!

I did a different education system prior to applying for BU. I was also lacking a few points to make it to Bangor, but I wrote them a letter asking if I can still get in and they accepted 👍

That's certainly the main thing missing. Again, I now do all of my filmmaking with the beautiful imagery of the bm, but watching other filmmakers just tap a button for follow-focus. That would make my life a whole lot easier!
