Another great vlog Richard, it's never a given with wildlife as you know. Set off hoping for one species & get stopped in your tracks by another. What a day! Look forward to the next one mate. I'm due back down in around 3-4 weeks, hopefully catch up then. All the best, Nick

Hey Richard, Ahh you gotta love Peregrines! They are one fierce and badass Raptor! Excellent video footage and stills like usual. Always keeps me coming back for sure. He I notice a Nikon D500 next to you! I am thinking you had a friend with you.... You wouldn't be joining the dark side now would you? Nah... I don't think so. As always I am waiting for the next one! Take care... Sayin' hey... Greg

Hi there Greg, badass indeed! They just look awesome all the way down to their trousers, and obviously killer talons!! I was battling with the wind a bit but still I was happy to walk away with some useable footage and still albeit it distant. No way, great cameras especially the D500 but a friend popped down to see the Falcons I I managed to get his setup in the shot! I wondered who would be the first to spot it, lol.. thanks as always. best regards R👍

Great shots and video, I wish I could get as close as that to our Peregrines. I need to revert to the 500mm + 2x teleconverter on the 7D ii to get a habitat shot! 😊 Also loved the slow motion of the sea. All the best. Rich.
@RichardBirchett3 жыл бұрын
Hi there Richard, wow you really have to go big on the reach to get on them! I must admit my other site I can't get close at all as they are just so alert and not happy with you getting even remotely close! But this other pair seem quite tolerant, probably because of their position on an island! Thanks again R 👍

I never go to the coast, I can see the sea from my back garden so it holds no mystique for me apart from sunsets. When I do though a Kestrel often shows well. The last time I went I was looking for Snow Buntings, and came away with great views of a pair of Choughs.
@RichardBirchett3 жыл бұрын
To be honest I am more of an inland type of photographer but it's still a bit quiet so the coast offers a bit more in the way of action at the moment, especially the Peregrines. You never can tell what you'll get, still choughs and seeing the Kestrel always a treat. All the best R 👍

Hi Richard, down in your area this week at Praa sands, right by the coastal path. been out today for a recky along the path towards Porthleven. I only started wildlife photography at the beginning of this year. Still lots to learn, especially bird ID. Am I right in thinking there will be seals in the coastal sea areas this time of year. Are they seasonal or here all year round?
@RichardBirchett3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, you picked a pretty good week as the weathers dry and looks superb from Wednesday onwards. If you want to see Atlantic Greys Seal try and head to Godrevy at a place called Mutton Cove, there is a large colony there but be careful not to get to close and disturb them as they spook easily. I really hope you get to see them and have a great week. All the best R 👍

Good spot for kestrel and Buzzards along the coast path out of porthleven looking right as you face the sea.

Another good video Richard. Maybe not what you wanted but those Perigrines made up for that. The shot at 8.53 blew me away. I've always considered their plumage are variants of grey / blue grey but looking at that shot made me intially think whether you had used flash and a Better Beamer, although I have never seen you using fill-in flash.
@RichardBirchett3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Roger, it was a pleasant surprise for me to be honest! And I know what you mean about the plumage, I've recently found out from a very informative Falcon expert that the plumage does vary quite a bit especially with age. I have flash be rarely ever use it. Tricks of Lightroom & PS maybe, lol.. Cheers R👍

Morning Richard I have just caught up with your last video absolutely brilliant what a great place. Can I ask a quick question what sort of distance do I need to get near wildlife to use my tamron 150-600 mm lens to get good close up shots thanks again for your time all the best. Carl
@RichardBirchett3 жыл бұрын
Morning Carl, thanks very much for watching. To be honest your reach with the 150-600 is pretty good and if you've a cropped sensor that reach will be further obviously. If its the 7D2 it would be 1.6x, its a hard one to call on how close but for up close shots without a crop in post processing about 25ft more than likely, but hard to say. Cheers R 👍

@RichardBirchett3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, yes it's such a great addition and like you purchased off Amazon, they are handy to wrap the lens/around the Tripod and used as a neck warmer if needed. And really cheap to buy. Any luck with the Barn Owls? Cheers and thanks for watching. Cheers R 👍
@mshielphotography18583 жыл бұрын
@@RichardBirchett Yes that’s what i do too, unfortunately my tripod is gray/black so i just use it to wrap it around that it’s a bit ironic as today i went out to film and photograph dippers so the grey and black tripod actually camouflaged better😅 but yeah it comes in very handy and can get creative with it for being a little net like for eg; cut hole to shove lens through if shooting from car and stuff...in my case there’s a gap in field between two of them thorny bush things so i just hang it from one branch to an other and works perfect as quick portable DIY Hide, however barn owl didn’t come, think the nearby construction work has made it move.
