This backpack is brilliant. I was suriprised how better it is than most of the hiking/mountaineering backpacks i was looking at, even though it's a Gitzo and not an Osprey etc.. I love the features, the materials used, it's really a true outdoor backpack with a photo gear insert. I use it as a hiking backpack as well. I've had it for two years now and it's still like new. Well worth the investment.

Finally found a review that shows a super zoom lens (600mm) actually inside the icu, many other great camera bag reviews I’ve seen only use up to 200mm for examples and it’s hard to know if a 600mm can fit! Thankyou!
@SimonWantling2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Lizey, glad you found it useful. I'm still using it and it's going strong. Be aware that with the new mirrorless cameras that require a adaptor to use an EF lens the it would fit in with the body attached to the lens. I just take the body off and then every fits nicely.

Just got the bag, having seen great reviews. Really impressed with the design and interior lay-out/padding etc. Only gripes are around the quality of the buckles and straps. They feel cheap relative to the rest of the bag and definitely in comparison with Shimoda and Wandrd bag standards.

Have you tried turning the camera/lens around and put it in with the lens pointing down? Maybe it'll be a better fit then? I think this will be a good backpack for my birding needs, there are so few backpacks with a padded insert longer than 45cm.

Having tried this bag, my honest opinion is that it’s let down by the straps. The inside of the bag is amazing, but after 2 hours with this on my back (only half full), my neck, back and shoulders were hurting. The support simply isn’t good enough. Gitzo came close to building a great bag, but IMO the lack of comfort for extended periods is a complete deal breaker. My personal choice and recommendation is the f-stop gear Tilopa 50L backpack because it’s so much more comfortable. I can walk around for hours with a full pack and it’s completely fine.
@timblass4811 Жыл бұрын
Agree, they definitely cheaped out on the quality of the straps and fasteners IMO, otherwise a great bag!

Hello, where did you buy the black covers for your case?
Hi Simon. I have a 600mm f4 and a 7D mark 2 and I am looking to invest into another backpack. Has mine hurts my shoulders and neck on a short walk of 15 minutes. Do you have any problems carrying the bag, say walking 30 minutes or so
@SimonWantling3 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew, I used to carry my 600mm over my shoulder mounted on the tripod but now if I want to walk with it it's always in the bag. I personally have no issues carrying it. It sits nice on the shoulders. I guess over time anything gets heavy but I like this bag a lot and the plus is it is accepted by airlines if and when we can travel again.

@@SimonWantling Based on maximum laptop size documented at gitzo.com 16" MacBook should fit. I don't take laptop with me on field but I do travel quite a bit (within country for now) and I need my laptop on longer trips.

I gave up on the design on this bag i full load this back pack and carry nearly every day and both strap cannot last for half a year when the look at the how it fail it both strap fail at the same point, the sewing a the low part for the strap padding failed because the full backpack load basically concentrated at the sewing point and the service material of the strap just tear off

What do you think of the canon r5? Heard the was actually a new r6 coming out soon! Would you consider getting one. And what would be the disadvantages of a mirrorless to a dlsr. Is a mirrorless camera more for landscapes
@SimonWantling4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ben, the R5 look great and I'm just waiting on my copy of one being available. Don't think there would be much difference between that and a decent DSLR for landscape photography. Apart from perhaps the increase megapixel sensor.
