🎥 Behind the camera version: • WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY w... 🎥
For me this is wildlife photography when it is best!
This is probably one of the best days I have had for quite a while. During one single day I am photographing birds in the meadow, I am filming the mood in the forest during a thunderstorm and I get the most fantastic experience just before the sun is about to set. Once again I am grateful for the many unforgettable experience nature gives to me.
Thanks to my camouflage clothes and a great portion of luck I get really close to some of these animals and I get som great photos that I am looking forward to showing you in this behind the scenes video.
See you out there..
All the best

Yeah, it's amazing to me what all went into photographing these Crane's! I have a hard time believing it, what it so easy and common in some area's is rare and difficult in other area's. For instance in Bosque Del Apache, these are a common bird and there are literally millions of them, which you can walk right up on in normal clothing and get some amazing images. Here, you have to resort to these types of techniques.

"It was worth every drop of rain." How refreshing to find someone else who goes into the forest ON PURPOSE during a thunderstorm! Stalking Cranes is so much fun! They seem to have really good eyesight, especially when it comes to detecting silhouettes against the horizon. I've never come closer than 50 meters before they raised their heads (meaning they will fly away if you take one more step towards them). So it is really really really challenging. Love it! Great behavior on Mortens part, as usual and lovely pictures with the background all in green :)

I have been shooting manual focus wildlife photography as a hobbiest for about a year and a half now, first with a Sony a6000 + Canon FD 400mm 4.5, and now with a Panasonic G9 and the 400mm. I also carry a Panasonic GX8 with either an FD mount Tamron 90mm 2.5 for macro or the m43 Rokinon 12mm f2 for landscapes. The IBIS and focus peaking on the G9 is incredible, and after enough practice, you can get just about any shot you want, even in-flight bird photography. It is a lot cheaper to shoot old glass too, and much of it is sharper than you would think as well. Have fun with your new glass and I think trying to get a good in-flight shot using an old manual focus lens would be a nice challenge, though that 300mm on the Z series or the F3 would be a killer deer lens.
