As much as your work has changed/improved in 6 years, I still love these older works. I love some of the paintings where the colors may be just a bit too bright, the painting with the direct subject like this Mulie, and how excited you always are to paint. ❤

I think what amazes me about you is the small brush you paint with. You seem to enjoy every stroke you make and it is not about getting through fast but loving the journey. I want to do that.

Another fantastic demo!!! The entire painting looks like one is looking at it through 3D glasses! I can relate, in a huge way, the struggle of knowing when to lay the brush down, and move on to the next aspect. I appreciate your videos very much - THANK YOU!!!

Man, Chuck - so glad I found your awesome video today. I've scrapped paint off (oils) trying to get distant sagebrush and closer brushes and now I have a shot at it! I had tried the sponge too, but after watching your video, I think I just need to be patient! The amount of layers are the key and the temperature and size and so important as things come into the foreground. I knew that, but you made it make a lot more sense than my brain did. I will try again. Going to watch your next clip to see the final painting. Really lovely so far. I'm painting Devil's kitchen in CO and love that you were painting scenes I could relate to. Thank you much for your ease of commenting through the video, it was to the point but not overly excessive. Loved it!

Yes, nice work Chuck; you've managed to keep just enough dark spaces in the foreground without ruining it with overkill on the detail. Tricky, labor intensive work but handled very well!

Lets say you load the brush with paint and you put it to the side. How low long does it take to dry to a point you can’t restart painting?

I have a question, I am still new to painting, I’ve been doing some tutorials aimed at beginners but I don’t really enjoy the style. I recently found a simple chickadee photo and figured I’d give it a try. I totally surprised myself. I really enjoy the realism in nature painting. I’m waiting to get a smaller detail brush to finish the tiny feathers but then I wondered if it might be the paint rather than the brush that was giving me trouble. I have slowly been building up my paint supply one tube at a time, the heavy body that are used in most beginner tutorials. I found that in some of the tiny details I got better results using my old craft paints, it was so much easier getting those fine lines. In painting wildlife or nature pictures have you found the fluid acrylics give you better results? If so I’m thinking I might start over in building my supplies with fluid paints. And can you recommend a brand with decent quality? I love Golden’s paints, but I already spent a good bit getting the tubes, once I get better I can upgrade to golden. I can’t wait till I feel confident enough to try to follow along with one of your videos.

Tess/Theresa Salberg I am thinking of upgrading to Golden fluids as well. Wondering if you did as your post is a year old.

Never mind, I see you like Golden, any other choice you can recommend? What site is the best place to purchase paint? Living up here in Alaska we are extremely limited to what’s available. Shipping is a nightmare but I do have Prime. Thanks for this video Chuck , great foreground.!

Greetings from Alaska, Margo here. I have tried several brands and types of acrylics. From the very cheep to the mid range, don’t seem to find one that is consistent. You have any suggestions?
