Thanks for sharing this with us! I've been contemplating exploring soft pastels for 2 years now being primarily an oil pastelist, graphit & charcoal artist. I am not sure if I would enjoy this medium even though my mind has been obsessed. So I learned about toison d'or pastels from you, quality and affordable to test the medium out. Got pastelmat, fc pitts, testing rembrandt B&W, cda Chinese white... I'm ready to roll as soon as next week! It's exciting exploring other mediums and I learned so much from you and all that you share! Thanks for the good that you do!

Hello there sir. You have a new subscriber. I have to say that your art work is out of this world. Being an artist most my life from drawing and shading with penic to clay work with my hands. Recently I have turned to using pastel pencils, a step up from pastel blocks. Using these pencils I have somehow found difficult that was until I found your channel. Is it true Faber Castell Pitt pencils are less saturated than carbathello? I feel so. Also Faber Castell is more waxy than carbathello. What do you think?

Hi Jason superb work.. I am new to pastels. For Sennelier should I buy soft pastels paris collection or half stick pastels A' L'Ecu or introductory collection. I already have stabilo pastel pencils and FC pitt pastel pencils.. Can I layer with soft senellier or conte or FC polychromos soft pastels and do fine lines on top of it with the mentioned Stabilo or FC pastel pencils?

Hello Jason, I watched many of your videos,you’re a great artist and teacher. I would like to ask you, I am just a colorist,and beginner with pastel pencils. I really like them, I got the Stabilo 60 set, of course I just do coloring. My question is, for my purpose could I use either the Sthrathmore Pastel paper,or the Canson Mi-Teintes? The Pastelmat I think it’s more for artists, I know it’s a good paper,but for me it would be too thick also because I will want to put it through the printer. I believe I can do that with the other two. Thank you so much

Noticed you were using some of the Derwent pastel pencils as well as others. How do you like them compared to the Stabilo and Faber Castell?

Jason, I enjoy so much your videos, both your artistry and also product comparisons and reviews. I am a colorist more than an artist really. I wanted to ask you,what do you recommend for backgrounds? Except PanPastels,because those are too pricey for me. I used distress inks and also the Derwent Inktense pencils activated. But I was thinking about pastel pencils like the Stabilo or FC Pitt, or maybe it takes longer to do that ?I don’t always want water based , what do you think of the Caran D’ache Neocolor I,which is water resistant, I haven’t found too much information about them for backgrounds. Or what else would you recommend that blends nicely, but not water soluble? Oh, I am thinking more crayons or pencils,not the sticks,because they are too messy for me 😊. Also what blending method do you recommend (for water resistant)Thank you so much !
