Today I'm on Minjerribah hunting Mud Crabs like it's always been done by the local aboriginal tribes, with hand spears. This island is abundant with wild food which is amazing given how close it is to Queenslands Capital City.
Make sure you subscribe to see more content of adventure and aboriginal culture around Australia.

Im very fortunate that i was able to visit Australia and have been to Stradbroke Island. One of the greatest moments in my life was interacting several of the local tribe who were fishing one evening. A few of us from our class walked over to speak with gentlemen, and they welcomed us to their fishing trip and into their camp where we shared some fish they had just caught. For a young bloke from the US, the experience of Straddie and that moment was something i have never forgotten. Australia is an incredible and amazing place. The people were wonderful, the environment is unforgettable and it was truly life changing.

Awesome video mate. Thank you very much and a big thank you too to Nikki and the kids and every one else. I have been to North Straddie (and South) several times, firstly in 1995 with my kids. Loved it. My wife, and grand son went for the first time in May this year and we camped at the "H" camping area on Main Beach for 2 nights. What a great week end. We are going to Minjerribah at Christmas this year for 4 nights ("I" camping area) and would love to get in touch with more of the locals. I think it would be therapeutic for the missus as we lost our daughter (the grand son's mother, my step daughter) 2 years ago on 18th October. The boy would love to get up to what those kids do; he's 13 years old and loves fishing and crabbing. Thanks again!

Camped on both Straddie Islands my whole life, saw many changes, Duggong were in large d groups once, sea grass beds are depleting. Great life for those kids. There are stonefish around those islands as I stood on one on North end of South Straddie, ended up in hospital. By the way in Qld life jackets are required on kids.
