Who are we?
We’re Victoria & Craig, a full-time travel couple currently living the RV lifestyle! In 2021, we realized life was too short to wait to chase our dreams, so we purchased a used fifth wheel camper and completely renovated it. After selling our house in Florida, we set off on our journey as full-time RVers. Popping the grain with water is an old trick of the trade. Wipe the entire surface with clean water, allow it to dry, and then stain. It will give you a much deeper and rich appearance.

You know what I really admire about you two.... you will take on a challenge! Even when you are a little inexperienced (tho I feel you know more than you let on...lol)! That's how you learn!!! I have built 3 homes over my lifetime and even when I built my first one I didn't have any experience! It was a bit exhausting to say the least but what it did do for me....TAUGHT me how its done!!!!! That's why I built 2 more! Hey guys, Been watching your videos for about a month now. I'm glad i found your channel. My wife and I plan on taking the RV up to Alaska, so I'll be watching that series. Here's a tip from an old cabinet builder...if you want the stain you are using to get darker with one coat use a water pop technique. Just wipe the wood with a damp cloth (not a real wet cloth) to raise the grain a bit. Let the wood dry and apply stain. I know it's a little late now but I'm sure you guys will have more project's in the future. Thank you for posting scripture verses on your videos. What a great testimony. Take care and God Bless. A little tip on the edge banding is after trimming use a file and go only from from front to rear with a bit of an angle. It should make a little straighter edge.

As you used sliding doors on intertainment center, you could use that same setup on your bath cabinet to avoid hitting potty when you open the rear door. Just a suggestion and not too much changing what you have already done.

If wood gets damp the grain will stand up. The raised grain will stain darker. If it gets wet you need to either wet the whole thing or sand it again.

That entertainment center is great. As a note water on wood will raise the grain and will change the ability to accept stain.

Thanks for making that entertainment center. During the Tampa show, I saw several t elevators and they ALL were noisy! I can’t believe how quiet yours is. The ones I saw went wah, wah, wah, at an amazing high volume. Craig, have faith, by the time you do your neat 30 drawers, you’re going to be a professional at it.

Gel stain and any water based stain is just not good. Glad you went with the wiping oil. That is the best, although a bit more stinky. I have used Minwax tung oil stain for years to good result. I once used the gel, and had to sand it off and do again. Tung oil plus satin clear makes a nice cabinet finish that lasts. You really cannot stain wood with moisture on it.

Yes when you use oil base stain and water drops get on your bare wood they will show especially when you sanded up to 240 grit the water raising the grain making it rough again the spots becomes darker ,top of the day !!

Happy BLESSED Birthday Craig. FYI check you frame weight should be on the inside of the door. That will let you know how much your fram will allow. When you have materials that's heavier than your tear out. That will put a huge strain on your axles and your framing. After your build go to a truck stop scales and see how heavy your rig is. That will determine how much extra you can have on that frame that even includes body weight food and all your supplies. Just a FYI. YOU WANT SAFT TRAVELS ⚔️🧡
