Rescuing Brown Bears From Captivity (Wildlife Documentary) | Wild Animal Rescue | Real Wild

In Kosovo, Brown Bears are being used by Private Zoos and Restaurants to bring in an audience. Often this means that the bears are cramped into small cages, with concrete flooring and none of the water and plants that they need to survive. In one restaurant, five fully grown bears are kept in the same cage, causing them to fight each other and inflict terrible injuries. Four Paws rescue the bears from these unfit habitats and bring them to their own bear sanctuary, with plenty of space for them to roam and grow. Meanwhile, one of Europe's last herds of wild horses in under threat from the government as they're blamed for destroying local wildlife. Four Paws steps in with a solution to keep the horses healthy and happy.

I am genuinely horrified by the fact she's lived in a 2x3m cage for 8 YEARS. As humans that's absolutely miniscule let alone for a 200kg wild animal! On top of all that it's not like it's even shielded from the weather so she'd have had to endure rain, snow, hail, heatwaves, storms, without relief. I just can't comprehend people, both the heartless who put her there, and those who dine in the restaurant. It's heartbreaking.

@@han6061 Agreed. I personally think they should be culled (doesn't necessarily mean kill, sterilization, capture, etc) They aren't native, they are invasive. True wild, native European horses are extinct, their closest replacements being Przewalski's horse.

I was in Kosovo in the US Army when they officially became a country in 2008. I was a part of the NATO forces. We went to the zoo and I was sickened by their living situations. It’s very sad.

Beautiful babies. It's so sad that people can be so ignorant of the needs of these animals. They only think of themselves and the money they bring. If people stopped visiting circuses and private zoos maybe this would change thing a bit. Good grief, I hated the dentist before I lost all my teeth. A bear with a root canal? I'd be just as grumpy having a shot in the butt then having all the effects when I woke up.

I just watched a Real Wild documentary about rescuing lions from terrible zoos in Romania. I learned “canned lion hunting” is legal in South Africa. It’s what it sounds like and they’re raised like chickens in a corporate farm.

Charge him for evading the law. I would understand if they ask for compensation for lost income, as they did rely on these animas, but to sell the animals, knowing it was illegal and they would be killed, means he should be charged. Me to that restaurant owner who sold the bear, I pray and wish that their child will face the same fate like the poor bear. I sound like a cruel person but those monsters (I will not call them human cuz the don't have a heart) need to face the karma. Maybe not to them immediately but their childrens! When I was 16 and my dad mom and I went on a vacation way way up in Canada wildness we had got a really bad storm threw the night and in the morning I had went down the campsite area to a small cheek and sat on a huge rock in a bit I heard a nice and looked and seen to bear cups by a trash can then I look and a very very huge mamma bear was on her hide legs in front of me I didn't move sat there very still and she finally left after a bit I ran beck to my parents and scream to my dad what happened so strange he replied your rocking my best vacation ever I told him to go and look at the prints of the bear well we left I was so glad I didn't move when the momma bear was in front of me on her hide legs she was so big and tall I've never got it out of my mind

I'm sorry, but some not all, environmental groups really just make things worse. I get it, the environment needs to be kept but by not managing the wildlife on a sustainable life ends up making many animals suffer instead of making things better. I feel at the times they have no ethics at all. This is just my opinion from the work I'm in seasonally as well as the degree I'm pursuing in conservation and management.

Because they will keep on reproducing and the land can only support a healthy herd and that's what they are trying to accomplish a healthy balance. When there are too many that's when there are problems with the ecosystem to support them without any big natural predators. And that's when people get concerned and want to start killing some of them just like they said they were going to do. That's why Four Paws did what they did and it was the right thing.
