Thanks for the detailed look. They just released this for Maverick and jm considering it. But i really dont like the rack. If I get the topper I'll be adding my own made out of extruded aluminum with t-tracks.

How thick is the canvas? this looks like a great solution and a better budget to a fiberglass topper.
@davelatham20038 ай бұрын
The best way to describe it is like an old army tent. It's thick and durable.

Looks great, thanks for the insights, just ordered one! Are the crossbars 1" square bar stock?
@davelatham20038 ай бұрын
Mine are 1.5” square stock

Hey Dave, thanks for the video. I'm trying to figure out if the Wildtop will take a 176 lb-rooftop tent. I know it's rated at 770 lbs static and 220 lbs dynamic, but it just looks a bit flimsy if you're going to run around with an RTT on the freeway or on back roads. What do you think, now that you've had some time with it?
@davelatham20033 ай бұрын
Honestly, I can't comment on that because I have not personally used a rooftop tent with mine. I have put a lot of lumber on it and it's been just fine. That being said, I have seen pictures/videos of others using a tent with it and it seems to perform well. Sorry I can't offer more, just want to be honest about my own experience with it. I'm still waiting on Wild Top to send me some test gear ;)

On the sides and above the tailgate, does it flap at all and rub directly on the paint of the truck when you’re driving I’m looking to purchase one and I don’t really want to scratch up the sides of the truck. And are you able to drive down the road with the window rolled up? Appreciate the response.
@davelatham20035 ай бұрын
Mine doesn't scratch the paint while driving. They include 4 clear protector stickers for the zipper pulls. I put those on and never looked back. It's pretty tight when you get it all zipped up so it doesn't really flap at all. I hope that helps!

Thank you! Does I it remain tight if you don’t have the rear window zipped in while driving? Are you able to roll up or down the window by the cab?
@davelatham20035 ай бұрын
@@DakotaKeefe - Yes, I just drove 100 miles today on the interstate with the rear window panel rolled up and it didn't budge. The velcro on the back/sides of the support posts keeps it locked down. I went with the dual window option so I can only speak to that option. I can roll both end panels up (ie- all 4 sides will roll up out of the way).

How much does the wild rack weigh? Ill be putting one on a 5.5 bed.
@davelatham20036 ай бұрын
My best guess is around 50 lbs. I was able to lift it up easily.

Can you go through a car wash with this?
@davelatham20036 ай бұрын
It's pretty tough- I can't image why you wouldn't be able to. I would imagine that it would function like a soft top on a convertible going through a car wash.

hey, I just got my WildTop. plan to install this week. have you mounted anything, awning and solar panels? since the ladder rack isn’t T-track i’m trying to figure out the best way. also, I plan to construct a bug screen. have you done anything like that?
@davelatham20037 ай бұрын
I haven’t done either of those- sorry. But, I’d love to hear a report of how yours turns out!
