Some people do like to exaggerate road conditions. Had a bloke come out of the Kennedy Ranges once as I was heading in and told me it was the worst road he had ever traveled. Well I ended up driving in at 70-80kph and not having to let my tyres down and hardly a corrugation to be seen. I guess it’s all about someone’s perspective and what you’re used to. Another great vid. 👍🍻👍🍻

@WildTouring3 жыл бұрын
I haven’t been into Point Billie, but if it’s anything like where we were at South Lefroy then I’d say you will be fine. Just drive to conditions, deflate tyres for rocky/sandy terrain and bring an air compressor to get them back up to pressure on the way out. Recovery tracks are always a good idea for solo travel offroad too.

@@michaelhermans4753 yeah got to Esperance with plans to cross into SA. Borders shut before we could cross... So only way in/out of the state is back up through the Kimberley where we've just come from - but it's wet season up there now... So we're still in the southwest, but everything's booked out from the start of school holidays. So we've got a few weeks to have a poke around and then we'll have to head home! From the Zombies to netflix/youtube in the canopy and a stern "don't lose the GoPro in the water", Chloe is an absolute scene stealer. Another gret espisode with the Chelsea rescue (no Toy gets left behind) , lovely snorkellig shots and drone work, the music overlays worked well. So counteracting the wind with music was a win win!!! It is also nice to see that not every trip is smooth sailing with the van and car getting a bit stuck, your vids are real life, not just the good news reel. As others have said, Quesadillla is pronounced kei-suh-dee-uh..and yes, they do look yum!!!!. Random question, how much Kewpie have you guys consumed during this trip? Sponsorship deal right there! :D

Keep up the good work, I see you using a scanguage type monitor, it seems to have a easier to read display, what type is it?, does it clear fault codes?, what coolant temps does the Dmax display when towing in this off season? What transmission temps are you getting?. Regards Tony
@WildTouring4 жыл бұрын
It's an ultragauge mx1.3, brilliant gauge, yes it reads and clears codes. Thermostat opens at 88ish, so temps float from there to around 95ish depending on what I'm doing and ambient temps. Trans temps around the same - I do have a trans cooler which made a big difference, beforehand it didn't take much to get up above 100 towing on a warm day or doing sand work.
@tonyfindlay12254 жыл бұрын
@@WildTouring Thankyou for the info, I currently have a scanguage, getting very hard to read in bright sunlight, I also have an engine guard cylinder head temp alarm, I have a Jan 12 Dmax manual, old shape, best car I have owned, just clicked past 210,000klm, it has an 86 thermostat and sits on that no carava, towing normally sits on 90, last week coming across the Barkly out of Camooweal outside temps at 46, the temps crept upto 97, slowed down to 80kph, temps came back to 92,

Gday Bill and Sue, I went straight down to 18psi on car and van- which is my starting pressure for soft sand. Most of the track (other than Yardie Creek crossing and South Lefroy Beach) could have been done at 25psi though, which I’d recommend if you don’t have tyres with decent side walls.

If it's the same as ours - the electric fiamma copy. Initially I thought it looked super flimsy, and wasn't confident about it holding up in the wind. But Havnt had an issue with it in wind or rain. Love how easy it is to set up - flick a button and it does its thing! BUT, the motor died on us a couple of weeks ago, so I'm manually winding it in and out until I get it in for warranty. Bit of a bummer!
