The hospitality of the local people and the tyranny of the bureaucracy are really in sharp contrast! Although it is freezing cold, the scenery seen on the mountain is so beautiful, it seems to be another world! The Locals get around on 2 wheel drive 🚗 and people do the Mongol Rally in cheap old 2 WD cars .. You have ASR on the Sprinter..that's a big help ..

The police have to protect the foreigners due to the security concerns, and they get in a lot of trouble if something happens to the foreigners. This is why they took the signed letter from you when you did not agree, and this is also why they wanted you to spend the night at a place where they could protect you. Glad you enjoyed the rest of the journey and the wild nature of our North.
