Wildwood Guitars

Күн бұрын

As you are walking down a dark, wooded path in the forest, a tall, shadowy figure emerges from the mist and strides toward you. Your pulse quickens. Your breaths become fast and shallow. Though your life doesn't flash before your eyes, the projectionist is warming up the reel. This is the end. The shadowy figure is far too tall and its limbs are too long to be fully human--a Mansquatch, perhaps. It has a weapon of some sort slung over its shoulder, and despite your terror you cannot help but notice its pleasing contours. As the Mansquatch steps out into the moonlight in a clearing, you can make out the sound of...chicken picking? And his weapon is...a Greg Koch Signature Gristlemaster from Reverend Guitars?
You step on a twig, and the Mansquatch looks up from his thunder staff, startled. You have broken his virtuosic reverie. He breaks into a smile. "Why hello there, traveler! I see you've caught a glimpse of my new signature Reverend. I have one important question for you," he says, his voice turning grave. "Can...you dig it?" You give Greg a solemn nod, and the Mansquatch removes his weapon and beckons for you to take it for a spin.

Ah....Fellow Mansquatches. Again you tempt me to the apex of my limits of control. The need to acquire a Gristlemaster is strong with this one. Satin black with maple neck and board, if you would be so kind..! String it up with 11's, a black leather strap of proportions suitable to a mansquatch, and ship it...!! Damn, I gotta get me one of those..!

Blucifer looks killer. I do however thing the neck pickup plastic bit should also come in black. The white looks great on the Blucifer or Pow Yellow finishes but I think black would look better on stuff like the Wow Red and colors in the video. Just one thing to ask, Greg, you being of the Deuchlander persuasion: why not make your new color reflect that Germanic influence & call it KochWERK Orange? Seriously, your signature axe is the bee's knees, the cat's meow, the epitome of tele-dom, with your signature Gristletone p'ups. Might I also add that the Greg amp totally rounds out the ensemble? It's a probably a good thing you stopped there, otherwise, if there were any more Gristley products, our heads would likely explode from the intensity of your tone... I won't even mention your playing...if I was able to live & play another lifetime or two, I MIGHT be able to get somewhere in the neighborhood of your caliber of expertise.

@slimturnpike

@ResoBridge
@ResoBridge 5 жыл бұрын
Placing a metal surround around a single coil pickup acts like a shorted turn. Currents are induced in it which generate a magnetic field in opposition to the fluctuating field from the string and this sucks high end presence out of the sound. This effect can be reduced by using less conductive metals, making the plate thinner and most effectively by making a cut through the plate to break the circuit. The bridge pickup on a Tele is affected (and the effect is measurable) but the Tele bridge plate is quite thin and it is made of steel which has a relatively high resistance. The thicker brass or aluminium bridge plates generally don't sound good.

Wildwood did have 5 black ones with a little fatter neck profile(Koch custom) but they're gone now(as of 12/9)...as for me, I was able to get one. A little more 'meat' to the neck than the 'standard' Reverend profile for this model. All I can say is that for the money, these guitars are an incredible value...the Fishman/Koch pickup system is fabulous...dead silent, they play like a dream, smooth/fast. Reverend Rules~!

Anyone know how bad/good the single coil hum is on these guitars? Im super interested. I was thinking of going with an American Performer Tele, but I was going to have to immediately install locking tuners and noiseless pickups on one of those. I cant play regular single coils at my church because of the noise. Something with the wiring and lighting we have.... if these Fishman pups are quiet enough I may have to just go with the Reverend.

@infoworks2909
@infoworks2909 5 жыл бұрын
They are adding new battery powered pick-ups that are a new type of tone control. Guitar players are often chasing sounds of guitarists they loved when first turned on to a sound that moved them. The digital domain has become formidable and "guitar" needs to "go where no man has gone before" - to make it "gone, daddy, gone" to the "hep cats" of today. This is an attempt to mimic a couple different types of traditional Fender Tele pick-up configurations. If you are going to buy a Tele - you could save space with one tele that could do it all with a Gristlemaster- All purpose electric. The cost of Tele style guitars, however keeps falling, and the quality keeps going up, so Reverend guitars have been falling in the resale marketplace. This is a great attempt to add their own quirky style to the mix and inject some extra value into their musical instruments. The color orange is a stand out for this Reverend guitar model. I would accentuate the wood lift on the face of the guitar more, because I think that is a cool feature that was not necessary yet gives a neck through appearance to a bolt on neck design. It also strengthens the part of the body that has the bridge and tailpiece, plus pick-ups and is where the body pocket boot fits the neck heel. This is a beautiful update to a classic design. Lithium batteries will be old school in 2 or 3 years. Newer solid batteries are just now coming into the marketplace - as well as supercapacitors. Lithium batteries wear out after a few years - these others could last an active user 68 years - allowing for longer life in the pickups of this kind. Look at this as a proto-type of new ideas in guitar. The battery is the flaw in the design.
