The managing director of Wilesco, Mr. Schröder is very nice. About one year ago I had a special need of information how to make a density keeping repair on my D 14 and calling the hotline I got personally himself. He couldn´t answer my question instantly but he assured me to care about it and gave me a retourcall 2 days later with good and problemsolving advices. Thank you Mr. Schröder.

about 20 years ago Fred I became great friends with a lad called Stuart, and he made working steam models and that I became very interested in all steam models sadly Stuart passed away and it up set me allot, and give all my little engines away I did not want to do it any more but time is a healer and I might just try hot air engines again but what a model a little qc and it would have been perfect ,a great video fred thank you

Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend Stephen. I understand the hobby of live steam may have some sad memories for you :-(. For me (and i cant show this on video) its the smell of the hot steam oil. Esp on a cold frosty morning. Its magic.

Got a little tip for you: Try heat up your water first that way you don’t waste fuel. Also if you do want to use warm water, whilst the engine is building up steam pressure, oil it then. More efficient. Anyway brilliant model!
@Bahamas-rd8le3 жыл бұрын
@Russell Stafford I’ve done it hundreds of times on my roller and it runs fine. And if there was an explosion etc it wouldn’t really be an explosion, just create a hole in one of the steam pipes

Back in the late 1980s, Tom Monaghan (of Domino's pizza fame) purchased a REAL Foden, and brought it back here to the States. I remember seeing it at tractor shows on a couple different occasions.

Thanks for this lovely video. I admire your enthusiasm. Its quite contagious ! I fill and drain the boilers of all my steam-engines, tractors etc. with a 100 ml syringe and some silicone tubing. ( a short piece of brass tubing (1"-3") at the end of the silicone-tube helps for smaller diameter- "filling holes")" ....Using hot distilled water shortens the heating time considerably. ...you get the Syringes either at ebay ( ca. £ 5,00 - 7,00-expensive !!) or at your local pharmacy or-in Germany-in shops for Laboratory supplies -check the internet for the latter ones.
@rowanschannel14142 жыл бұрын
Brilliant
@Shipwright19187 жыл бұрын
I certainly hope you're not still using de-ionized water, it'll attack the solder that holds the boiler and steam pipes together, and it'll eventually result in you having an expensive display piece at best, and a thorough scalding at worst. De-ionized and distilled are two different things entirely, and as you say distilled is best to use since it doesn't hurt the boiler or leave any scale in it. If you can't get distilled, rainwater run through a Brita-type filter is also perfectly acceptable.
@CB-RADIO-UK7 жыл бұрын
Thanks. You know i will have to check what type of water i have. Some say that rainwater is the best.
@paulhorn26656 жыл бұрын
You can make a mix with destilled (de-ionised) water, 90& destill-10 & tap water. But use water from a Brita-type filter is the best, I do it for years now.

Again, a very nice film :-) I do not know if I should be so pedantic as to say it isn't actually a tractor, but a lorry modelled after the British Foden Lorry's. But that is just details for the die hard fans i guess :-). Congratulations on your new model. We do need more steamers in the community so I hope you will keep up.

I love the video. I noticed Wilesco didn't add a whistle on the D310. that would have been pretty cool. Have you ever tried doing a video of the stationary tools? Such as the M96 Wilesco Welder, or M83 Wash woman driven off of a T125 or D22? I think you do a better job on the videos than many others out there, and they are fun to watch.

I have the D430 engine but it doesnt have steering wheel or the whole system. I took some research and found out that it is possible add a steering but it needs some work. my first problem is that the front part that has holes for the springs is wrong way around. Any idea how to flip the front wheel axel around?
