“His first day was on location with Kylie Minogue, but all eyes, even Kylie’s, were on Bernard. He’d turned up with a suitcase full of props, just in case, including a rubber chicken. And what an actor. Oh, really though, what a wonderful actor. We once took him to the TV Choice Awards and sent him up on his own to collect the award, and the entire room stood up and cheered him. That’s a lovely memory. He’d phone up and say, ‘I’ve got an idea! What if I attack a Dalek with a paintball gun?!’ Okay, Bernard, in it went! He loved Gill with all his heart; he mentioned her in every conversation we ever had. A love story for the ages. I’m so lucky to have known him. Thanks for everything, my old soldier. If you ever get round to it read A writers tale by Russel T Davies... he wasn't suppose to Wilf at all. It was supposed to be her dad. Unfortunately the man who played him got Cancer and died before his part was half finished. So Wilf became grandad. They re-did all the bits they had filmed but made him talked about so he wasn't forgotten. The Lottery ticket bit was put in to memorise the dad.. providing for his family before he died. I think it was well handled and a nice tip of the hat.

I just want to point out 2:42. Wilf makes a tactical assessment just like that. *finger snap*. Most people, upon seeing aliens, would freeze up, right? Not Wilfred Mott. “Oh, they only look out of one eyestalk? Hold up, let me get my sh-t. We’re taking back London!” On top of THAT…hits the target in one shot. Had that been a proper weapon, that Dalek would’ve been taken out.

@a1g2282 жыл бұрын
Just watched this video after learning of Bernard Cribbins’ passing. I’ve met many dr who fans in my life and it cannot be understated that Wilfred Mott was, hands down, one of the most beloved characters in the modern series. A man who never failed to make us laugh or cry, who stood his ground in the face of a dalek, and the man that the Doctor freely admitted that he would be proud of if Wilfred was his dad. He could’ve been just a one off character like Donna but the both became such beloved characters in this franchise. Wilfred Mott will forever remain a beloved character to us Whovians and we have Bernard Cribbins to thank for bringing the character to life. Of course, his work does not limit to Dr Who and there are many in the world, my mother included, who loved Bernard Cribbins for his work over the years which he brought plenty of humour and general human kindness to. Today, we have lost an amazing man but we will always remember him 😊.

Most famous people’s deaths don’t bother me much. I might think “oh that’s sad, I hope their family is doing well.” but that’s it mostly. Not this one. This one actually feels like such a loss to this world. Rest in peace you absolutely wonderful man.

"i'm going to die" 'well, so am i' "no, don't you dare" 'well, i'll try not to, hn hn.' this is so touching when he says this... the doctor can try not to die, but wilfred can't, and he's way more adjusted to dying when it's inevitable.
