Wilhelm Raceworks Wilwood BBK Install - SW20 Mr2

Really excited about this one. This is the Wilhelm Raceworks Heavy Duty Wilwood Big Brake Kit. The stock system works OK, but I was never confident braking as hard as I could and I've overheated the stock system to the point of melting the paint on the calipers off and got a good deal of fade. Brake ducts helped A LOT but I still wasn't able to confidently brake at 100%. This should change that.

I need to upgrade from my NA brakes to one of Alex's kits. I'm thinking about going with the ultralight kit because I don't need super big brakes for autocross.

You will be fine with the light kit if you are only doing autocross. That being said you are probably fine with the NA brakes on real pads when talking strictly autocross runs, but you probably want more for canyon runs in that car at this point lol

@@allthingsfast2375 Yeah the na brakes are perfectly fine for autocross. I just want to be able to do some track cross type events and light track days. But I might just end up going with the heavy duty kit because I have to be at that 2750lb minimum for XS-A anyways.

@@mr2_nate UL kit for the reduced unsprung / rotating weight and add ballast to the chassis if you need to make weight :)

Cutting the dust shields is exactly how I removed mine, I just used tin-snips instead.

I figured there would only be a 1% that would go through the effort to save them lol. when I started I didn't realize they were pressed on before the hubs and it pissed me off. luckily cutting was super easy and I was relieved. good thing the metal is soft and thin...

@@getloud315 nice. I think between the better ventilation in the design and these Porsche brake ducts feeding them air, I should be able to drive this thing as hard as I want to

Literally drove it for the first time today. Just up the street to get some exhaust work done tho. I’ll really get to test it and dial in the proportioning valve later this month but first impressions are it feels great!

How much was the kit?

around 2 grand, but considering I only used one set of brake pads all year, its going to save me money in the long run. and I don't get brake fade so its much safer =)
