Really nice demonstration of the Feather Artist!!! I have both the SS and DX versions. Love using this razor! It has a bit of a learning curve but once you've mastered it, it's an absolute joy to use. There's nothing like that pass from under the neck, over the jowl and along the cheek. This particular razor, the Feather SS & DX are engineering marvels. And the sharpness of these blades (Pros or Supers) exceeds what I can get on my straight razors...that just means you have to be extra careful...which translates into learning great shaving technique. Your camera must be amazing as well...very clear video. CHEERS!!

Nice shave Flash, mixing those soaps together would be inspired , oh, wait a minutes I thought you'd retired? Sorry, it was you Cris - still a good idea! Nice shave with the feather, feels like a straight but without the hassle of honing and stropping (hassle if your not a full-time straight shaver with all of the kit.) I look forward to seeing you shave your head with the leaf, if it's any good it could bring an end to disposable plastic in my den - I like your environmental approach. Have a great weekend.

After watching the video, I’ve realised the impact hard water has on lather! Mine has never even got close to that. It just looks like a thin layer of white paint on my face. I had assumed it was just the soap, but I’ll have to try with some bottled softer water!

I struggled to lather Mitchells Wool Fat for absolutely ages, but then I just kind of figured out a method that worked for me and it's worked ever since. I was honestly almost at the point where I was going to bin the soap, but I'm glad I didn't because it's excellent now I managed to lather it!
@AnotherCutAbove5 жыл бұрын
I never actually had the fat, I had Kent shaving soap which is essentially rebranded fat. To be fair I was very early on in my shaving adventure and I reckon now I would be able to knock out a cracking lather with it! I just need to pull the pin on a purchase!

21:25 Wasn't that One Blade that came out awhile back a pivoting single blade? Don't remember it getting very good reviews, though 😆😂 Kinda remember Freedberg and Ken Lee using them.
@AnotherCutAbove5 жыл бұрын
I thought the one blade was an OK razor. But one shave per blade and stick pivot made it difficult to use and recommend!
@spencerfrankel4145 жыл бұрын
I didn't like mine at all. One blade core had plastic stopping tabs. So after a few uses (obviously) the sharp blades pierced through the plastic stoppers and made it unusable. Not a fan of oneblade at all and customer service was pretty average

I watched this video when you first posted it, but watched it again today to see again what you thought about Wilkinson Sword soap. I used it this morning, and have almost used it up. However it seems that I’m struggling to build a satisfactory lather with it. I think it was better when the soap was fairly new, but now I found I agreed with all the negatives you mentioned here plus the fact that it no longer lathers very well.

First proper shaving soap I used. I shaved with the Wilkinson Sword soap today and it felt beautiful. I bought the brush at the same time, but not sure how I feel about that

The brush is very average for sure, not something i would likely buy and use regular unless i was a true cheap scotsman lol

The problem I have with carts is the multiple blades tend to chew up my neck down by my Adam’s apple. Does the Lead feel a little smoother there?
@AnotherCutAbove5 жыл бұрын
It’s incredibly mild man, it actually feels more like a de than a cart. Obviously for myself my skin is tired and in need of a little rest as I have been smashing it against the grain. Overall however the leaf hasn’t really cause me any issues.

Nice shave Cris! I’ve used that same soap with a straight razor a few times and it worked not too bad, but then again I can get a great shave with Williams lol. Have a good one bud.

Interesting. I found Wilkinson shaving soap to be far slicker than my usual "premium" soaps (Tabac, Cade, D.R. Harris, Proraso, Kent, Fendrihan) and infinitely more slick than my William's mug soap ! I wonder if it's the water here in Toronto ? Or perhaps it responds well to my usual lathering technique (brush soaked and then squeezed out firmly before loading soap for 30 seconds, wet face, and then face lather without adding more water to the brush) ? It's a mystery !
@AnotherCutAbove5 жыл бұрын
Yeah I tend to lather voluminous wet lathers, but my water is also ansolutely dreadful over here. I had Kent soap which was the rebranded Mitchell’s woolfat and I couldn’t get it to lather at all!
@AnotherCutAbove5 жыл бұрын
It’s one of those subjective things, but I found this to make a great lather but not have the best performance or post shave. I would definitely have it in with proraso etc....
@christiansalazar46045 жыл бұрын
Williams has amazing slickness, but I agree that you need to add another soap or something to stabilize the lather so it doesn’t break down. I’m a sucker for nostalgic or classic products, and Williams has been around forever. It just has kind of a vintage appeal to it.
@stuarthay14 жыл бұрын
Hey Cris. Agree with you on the soap. Price matches the quality. Was wondering though, what was the little trimming razor? Looks perfect size for under the nose.

Honestly man I have tried like 5 different KZbin techniques off camera and can’t get anything to work. It must be our water over here. I was thinking of trying distilled water but I just can’t be bothered with the hassle lol
@D4PPZ4565 жыл бұрын
@@AnotherCutAbove I honestly don't understand the company that makes it tbh. I'm sure they could have fixed the problem that makes it only work for half the people that try it and then rerelease it as a new product in their line.

@@D4PPZ456 I agree! The performance for me is absolutely incredible. Competes with almost anything for me. But I think it's very sensitive for water since my water doesn't have an issue at all, I can lather it fine and doesn't dissapate at all

Another Cut Above - I should sent you a couple pucks. I picked up a half dozen at a discount dept store here in Canada. Not a stand out soap compared to some of the better artisans but it’s a reasonably slick tallow based soap and it has simple but masculine scents.

In my experience, the top position on the Leaf does nothing. Using one blade that's split, and placing it in the middle and bottom slots is all I need for a great shave.
