Interesting comparison video. I recently purchased a Weishi razor, more out of curiosity than anything else, and it came with ten Weishi blades. I wasn't expecting much from either. Being totally honest, the razor works well and the blades are very sharp. No irritation, cuts or nicks and the blades lasted for three quality shaves, minimum. I'm impressed with these Chinese blades and also the razor.

Try the personna lab blue. They're very sharp but at the same time extremely smooth. With two passes I get BBS, no need to shave against the grain. I paid like us$2.50 for a sample of 5 bought from eBay. Edit, I have the merkur 33c (not 34c)

Supporting Shannon's Soap here in Oz - I have "Woodlands" - used it this morning with my 1966 Gillette Slim adjustable. I wouldn't say it's an amazing scent, but it lathers well and is very slick - I like it!

Nice one Ken! I agree with your findings about the Indian Wilkinson (aka Saloon blades) compared to the Chinese Wlikinson. I also find the Chinese Wlkinson blades sharper. Both are very good blades. I find the Chinese blades harder to get hold of since more vendors keep the Indian variety because they come in trucks of ten blades (while the Chinese blades come in trucks of 5)

If you can get your hands on the English made Wilkinson's, get them. Those are the best DE blades I've ever used. Unfortunately, people are asking obnoxiously high prices for them, but I got 75 (15 packs) of them for $60 last year. Still high, but I've seen them as high as 30 to 40 bucks a pack.

I bought the synthetic kensurfs brush because I haven’t had one yet. I’m relatively new to wetshaving, only been in it for about 5-6 months. As I was considering getting a synthetic brush after my boar and badger, Ken comes out with the limited edition brush. Ken, question for you: do you know if it would be possible for you to review a Gillette Platinum, or Silver Blue blade? Here's a tip. A very small tincture of the Proraso Green pre-shave will close small nicks and cuts if you let it stay on for about 5 minutes. Good video. There used to be varying opinions of that Chinese made Wilkinson blade on B&B. I can't even find it on Ebay or Aliexpress. You know what would make these shave meetups interesting? If the big boys were invited and P&G sent their "Old Spice team" so they could hear how the community feels about the lack of decent stuff and novelty products they issue. Seeing Colgate Palmolive reps along with someone from Combe, Inc.(Williams Mug Soap and Aqua Velva) would be worth it, too.

Forget the blade overhang. At 3:59, it looks like your 34c is like all other Merkurs with uneven blade exposure on each side. Look where your blade edge is in comparison to the base cap on top and then look at the bottom. Every Merkur I have has the same problem. I have to play around with it to get it as close to even as possible.

I stated shaving with DE blades for the first time about a year ago, I’m 48 and have always used cartridge razors, because I have very sensitive skin but decided to change, mainly because of cost. I’ve tired various combinations but the R41 with Personna blades seems to be the best for me. As mentioned I do have sensitive skin and more often than not, I will have several knicks on my face, but what I have found is once I’ve washed my face, the bleeding will stop and my face is not sore. Anyone else find this too?

I had a very similar senior year I took a few college credit classes before my senior year, Maxed out all the math my school had to offer, got some credit for summer school, etc... and instead of graduating early, I believe my schedule looked a little something like this. Marching/Concert band Spanish 2 (complete joke... got an A and never had even a 20 word Spanish vocabulary) Jazz Band Symphonic Band (as a T.A. of sorts) Study Hall (Spent it in the Band room) Gym (after lunch... kinda regret that. LOL) And I can't for the life of me remember my one real class that year. Might have been Physics? Anyway, it was these 7 classes every day... my band director basically let me come and go as I please during band classes and study hall...so I would have extra long lunches and sometimes take my dog for a run/hike between hours 4-5 or 5-6 just whenever I felt like it (My band director knew I didn't really need to be there for class) Ultimate slacker year... but of course, you only get that slacker year if you work hard from 7th grade through your Junior Year. Totally worth it! :D

For example, Ken gets away with a 2 pass shave and I still need extensive touch ups on the chin and neck after the third pass, even with a Feather blade. I'm one of these guys that have hair growing all the way down to the collarbone, bridge of the nose, copious amounts under the nostrils, etc. i have about 2 dozen makes, and many in bulk packs. Among my favorites is the sharp Bic Chrome Platinum.

What are some good websites to find pre shaves or wet shave products in general? I know about WCS and Art of Shaving but that’s about it. I just started shaving with a van der hagen DE :)
