Hi Phil. I discovered a trick with my induction cooker that had a minimum of 1000w. You can experiment with spacers (cork or silicon), up to about 1cm, and the wattage is reduced. I can get my net draw down to 500w using 2 silicon mats, without any cycling, which mine doesn’t do. This has allowed me to use it for simmering food that needs it.

Interesting! My induction simmers great. It does have a 500w option. But what it does is run at 1000w than turns off, on, off on, etc.

I always enjoy the cooking videos. Phil what IS resistance? You made a few good points about the advantages of induction cooking. I think that applies to powering all of your gear (including camp lighting) on a vehicle and/or trailer's electrical system. As long as your system can safely handle it. It's free to use on an ongoing basis. Safer because there is no fuel to transport and use. You don't need to worry about running out of cooking fuel when you go remote. No wind restriction issues. Take care of yourself down there Phil.🍻

The resistance of an object depends in large part on the material it is made of. Objects made of electrical insulators like rubber tend to have very high resistance and low conductivity, while objects made of electrical conductors like metals tend to have very low resistance and high conductivity.
@PhilsCampingReviews
@PhilsCampingReviews 2 жыл бұрын
Resistance to electricity-that is, electrical resistance-is a force that counteracts the flow of current. In this way, it serves as an indicator of how difficult it is for current to flow. Resistance values are expressed in ohms (Ω).

I think it’s a no brainer, if you have electricity especially a caravan, camper trailer and you camp at caravan parks a lot and connect to power. Induction cooking is worth it. Remote camping, you need a quick way to replenish the energy used. I would still carry a small gas stove for backup. Such as rainy or cloudy weather or your base camping. A small generator is also handy. But your restricted on its use at most camp grounds.

Good video champion. I get that itechworld 200ah battery soon. Like that induction cooktop that you have as default setting is 500w then you can bring up to whatever wattage the inverter can handle rather that turn on and the inverter can’t handle the start up. Looking forward to your battery build.

A lot of them appear to use the Daly BMS. Personally I don't like the balancing feature on it, from what I see it's very slow to balance and apparently according Will Powers, the Daly BMS don't have a low temp shut down.

I’ve watched a KZbinr putting his buss bars to test and I would not call those alloy busbars a success. The KZbinr had to polish the busbars after sanding them and use some expensive grease to stop the high resistance, even than it was a hit and miss. And within a short period alloy will oxidise.

Make sure if your crimping cables that big, use to correct crimping dye, if it’s a 90mm lug and you use a 90mm crimp dye, doesn’t mean it’s the correct crimp dye, need to find out which dye that cable is required, even the dye needs to suit certain branded Lugs for the correct crimp

@@newport5504 I will get some new lugs this week, and redo the one on the positive terminal and cut the one crimp on there now and see what the strands look like. When I tried the correct sized dye it was very easy to crimp, I've watched others and they appear to put a lot more effort in crimping, So I grabbed the dye smaller and it felt a lot better to me.

Hi Phil, it would be handy if you specified which company made your hob that ur using there? Now to the Kmart Hob: from the review on utube, apparently, The cord is really cheap and rather then coming out the back its position is down the side on the right. It is a cheap unit so, I would not expect much from it. If you already bought it, What is your experience with it? I bought the Tefal Hob those r a bit over a 100 but its big enuf and controls are sizable enuf for what I like.

Prices gone up of late in particular freight. I’m still looking. Need to keep it below $1000 so there will be no import duties and tax. I’m hearing there will be another price rise soon. I’m not ready to do anything now. Also it’s critical you top charge each cell when you receive them, in order to do that you need a special power supply that is adjustable so you can charge each cell to 3.65v for the top charge. I’m not sure yet how much these chargers are. And it’s something probably only used once.
@defenderzook

@@PhilsCampingReviews yep....ive done a little research into that myself and found out about keeping the cost below a grand..... so i guess a group buy will give the wrong result....only way around that is to get the supplier to break up the sale into smaller orders.... but ive also found out that they dont give much of a discount on their cells either...only a few dollars at most.....so not worth the headache...... as for top charging......theres several different ways it can be done.....and you can probably use what you already have as long as you monitor the charging yourself...
@PhilsCampingReviews
@PhilsCampingReviews 2 жыл бұрын
@@defenderzook might have to place two orders. 2 cells each order, but the order will need to be a week or two apart. Otherwise what will happen is customs will add the orders together even though it’s separate orders. Hence you space the orders apart by apx a week or two.

Yes, i own a 2000w coffee machine. Mine will run but not at 2000w. 2000w is to much for the Itechworld 120X. The best continuous discharge the battery can handle is 150 amps. And 175 amps for short period. 2000w coffee machine, your looking at 200 amps plus discharge. My coffee machine has a unique feature that allows it to run at 1000w. Check out my video on the coffee machine.

Just 100 Ah of battery is OK for a few minutes etc, but long term, it is NOT anywhere near a wise choice. Just look at what Safiery do and recommend. At a minimum for a 4wd setup is 200Ah, but better to have 400 etc. Having only 100 Ah - you are SO dependent on having excellent solar days etc, or travelling everyday and using alternator. If you are say staying somewhere for a week or more- then it will be very hard to replenish the battery. And not to mention the "abuse" the battery will take.... Even better - get a 48V system.
