WILL A LANDSCAPE RAKE DAMAGE A NICE LAWN? Summit TX25

We had some small summer chores to do today, one of which was to prep a row in the garden so we can plant some broccoli. First we mowed, then we disced, then we headed up front to clean up the mess left by the loggers (we asked them to just cut and leave). Need some gauge wheels for that rake. It changes how it can be used greatly by allowing the rake to ride right above the ground and not dig in.

I have a power line area running through my property that I like to keep groomed, regularly cutting it with my Bush Hog throughout the growing season. Every few years Georgia Power trims the boundary trees that encroach into the open area, and in spite of their best (?) efforts, they leave a mess of detritus. The landscape rake does a beautiful job of collecting the limbs that they leave behind. You might not think of it as an earth-moving tool, but it does a good job of grading loose dirt as well.

Turn the rake around backward, if you have hydraulic top link, and adjust aggressiveness of the rake with the top link while pulling it with the tractor. Keeps it from digging in when you don’t want it to!

Have a 60" Dirt Dog rake with the factory gauge wheels and it's my most used 3 point tool. It's a LOT faster with better looking results than a box blade for keeping gravel smooth, crowned and in the driveway. The boxblade only comes out to fix other folks driveways where they let it get away from them with potholes. They're amazed the rake finishes the surface perfectly. Magic is easy if you know how.

Yes ,l bought a landpride 6 footer 54 weeks ago. They wanted 750.oo$ and other places wanted 850.oo$. I offered 600.oo$ CASH ; they went for it , and l walked away smileing. Cash is were it's at--; even from a major "chain store" . Just talk to the manager "head-honcho" & they will scrape up a rebate ( instant) an the product gets " moved". When "waltzing in" with a credit card( or bank debit) ,they " see you comming" & you ALWAYS get hammered. I have NEVER paid full price for my implements ( all 10 & Brand New), at least got a 15% discount for CASH! The retailer's make 40-50% mark-up;; near robbery ,on implements. The "wheel" gauge-a-matics are game changers-- made my set-up for 85.oo$ , 4 hours & some better " custom- reverse-enginering-fabrications". My money is precious & I'm not paying a salesmen wages for the day for 15minuites of his time.

Looks like for all the landscape rakes to be fully usable ( 360 degrees ) quick hitch compatible without unhooking to turn it around….. all brands will need to lower the top angle rail so it will clear the quick hitch??? I never realized that you couldn’t turn the rake around with a quick hitch on the tractor as I’m not a quick hitch guy. You are right though the landscape rake is a awesome tool and can be used for endless work items like leaves, fine grading gravel, fine grading dirt and lawn prep etc etc. 👍👍

Courtney couldn’t get his to clear the quick hitch. I’ve never used a quick hitch so I didn’t know if that was a common issue with the rakes not clearing the hitch to spin around. I’ve never had any issues hooking up pt equipment or drive lines to the pto so I e never seen any advantage to me to use a quick hitch. I guess 51 years of farming has its advantages getting good at hooking up cat 3 and cat 2 equipment.

Most people will run that rake much faster than you were. Can't worry about the lawn power raking that's what seed is for.

I am getting ready to put in a new lawn (about 1 1/2 acres). My lawn has tons of moss everywhere as I live in the wet Pacific Northwest. I plan on killing the moss first, but was wondering if a landscape rake could then rip all the dead moss from the ground to get rid off it. I then plan on tilling up the ground before seeding. Is this a good plan or are there better choices? Thanks. Dennis

So i know you've said summit is coming out with a belly mower for that tractor. And i have looked at the ITL website to see if they had a belly mower to mount to the summit tractor and it looked like they don't have anything for their current tractors. Do you know if there is any 60 inch belly mower out there that can currently mount up to the summit tractor.

The Summit TX25 is a Solis H24 (also made by ITL) styled and optioned to Summit's specs. Both are copies of the Mahindra Max 25XL, and all three use the same Mitsubishi engine and other major components. Summit themselves has acknowledged that there are 18 SCUT brands, but only 8 manufacturers behind them. Mahindra or Solis would be my first stop for a MMM considering both other models offer one.
