Making it is a low bar for the middle of the Big 12. Conference needs these teams to advance.

2 of ucfs q1 loses came down to final seconds with UH and KU (missed late free throws to win one and the big 12 ended the other at the 2 min to go mark and announced KU the victor in the other). The q2 loss was a blown 20 pt lead to LSU where we dropped it in 2 ot. Win any of those and ucf would be solidly in right now. Gotta win the close ones.

The committee looks at things like strength of resume just as much or more than predictive metrics like net and kenpom. Focusing only on net is not how committee says they look at it.

Maybe what K-State did last night in Ames is what you’re calling for. KSU might have been closer to the lower middle of the conference, but they are certainly rising up and being stronger now.

Fortunately or unfortunately at least the NCAA uses analytics (NET) to make their decisions. There is some human input (like to avoid rematches or conference rematches)) but not like the political quagnire of the CFP, SEC and ESPN.

UCF got blown out by Kansas at home so that Q1 loss is given more weight.
