Let's swim in denial river and talk about how maybe, just MAYBE, AC Red could be a successful game in the eyes of Assassin's Creed fans. I feel like this could be a perfect storm where Ubisoft Quebec actually ends up making a game that respects the franchise and stops being the Rian Johnson of Assassin's Creed. Assassin's Creed Japan will be the next major game in the franchise from Ubisoft Quebec, following the success of 2020's Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Developer Marc-Alexis Cote, who has served as both creative director and producer on some of the best Assassin's Creed games, described Codename Red as Ubisoft's "next premium flagship title" before teasing that it will be "the future of our open-world RPG games on Assassin's Creed."

Imagine if there's a twist that's a flip from what happened in AC 3. Where instead of you thinking you're an Assassin but actually a Templar, you'd think you're a Templar but you're actually an Assassin.

I have a feeling this AC is finally going to be something new and innovative.. this games been in development for 5 years. I just want to play as an Assassin with a well written story again, no more jokey goofy odyssey tones we want to play as brutal hidden figure whos serious and feels like a badass. If we can get that im sold regardless of fantasy micro transaction skins, weapons etc.. the leaks about hiding in shadows, proning and it being a Ps5 and Xbox Series x next gen is also showing we might see a new type of AC.

Hey I know this comment is old and you are already disappointed by the trailer revealed but I have some more bad news for you . . . the "jokey goofy odyssey tones" is thanks to Ubisoft Quebec...the same team that made Syndicate...and the same team in charge of this game. These guys made it very clear they have no love nor respect for the Assassin's Creed IP and is willing to burn it to the ground just to make another fantasy game the way they like.

@@octylMan yeah seems so, honestly i still have some interest for the gameplay because it sounds new and innovative. Story wise and assassin lore wise i dont have much faith, it will probably have a 10000000 dialogue choices and some cringe jokes but i’ll try and ignore that so i can enjoy Japan and the samurai/ninja fantasy. I do hope the story is dark and well written and focuses on Assassins, but then again my expectations regarding that are quite low.

Dream game : mix between mirage syndicate and splinter cell stealth, unity parkour with ezios control ( a bit less clunky unity would be great) , and Black flag story Ghost of tsushima would be great inspo for ubisoft😂❤❤❤

I think if Ubisoft Quebec were really disrespectful to the franchise, we would have gotten an Assassin protagonist in Odyssey with all the other non ac game elements present in the game. That would have been really disrespectful. Because they knew they were gonna double down on rpg mechanics and elements which really don't serve the Assassin fantasy, they decided to go ahead with a setting and protagonist not directly linked with the Creed. But a mercenary, which allowed them to ultimately not plague the Creed and the philosophies the franchise stands on.

Personally, I'm not confident that Red will save AC with its core, only financially. The higher-ups of Ubisoft have never changed, Quebec doesn't have a track record of making a good true Assassin's Creed game, and all the Assassin elements may just be superficial. I'm excited for what Bordeaux will make next, however. If they can remake AC1 well and starting from there, that will do for me more than some Japanese historical tourism.

I'm ready for this game. Although Valhalla wasn't as good as I hoped, Odyssey was a banger in my book. Hopefully this game is more like Origins and Mirage though. I also think people just hate on Quebec too much.

I just wish it wouldn't feature two protagonists, and instead just have one protagonist, ideally a Japanese man who is a Shinobi welding a short katana. The daul protagonist set up didn't work for me in AC Syndicate, so i am skeptical about this Other than that, i do wish it was Ubisoft Montréal making the game, since they are the original creators of the series

I'm a big fan of Odyssey but it's pretty clear that the narrative took a back seat to the RPG mechanics. If nothing else had been changed it would have been a better game if Kassandra was the protagonist, Alexios the antagonist and the dialogue choices totally removed. Both of those things made the game more replayable out of a sense of curiosity but ultimately damaged the narrative build up over all in my opinion. Objectively speaking though it's still a great game, but could have been possibly the best in the series to date. The same goes for Valhalla. The illusion of choice is a mockery of depth.

I'm interested in Red because of Ubisoft Quebec honestly. I think Syndicate was the best AC game since Revelations(not a fan of ACIV that much because I don't like pirate setting and wasn't a big fan of ship combat), but I enjoyed Syndicate alot due to it's robust(relative to the series' norm) stealth systems and I think Odyssey is also the best of the RPG trilogy. I understand why people don't like Quebec games due to their light hearted tone but they are extremely polished and they know how to ripoff from other games(Batman in Syndicate, God of War in Odyssey, and Ghost of Tsushi in Red appearantly). I also don't get why you think they aren't interested in making AC games? Syndicate was arguably more AC than Unity, not only main story wants you to get rid off all of London's templars side missions are about saving Karl Marx(freedom of speech), saving Graham Bell(freedom of speech) and rescuing children from factories. Unity's main story is just another generic revenge story in comparison with not only one but two dead parents as a motivation. If you take assasins out of Unity nothing changes in terms of story. Arno is arguably more interested in helping or avenging his Templar friends than helping Assasins, only reason he became an assasin rather than a templar is due to "forbidden love" story imo. Same can be said about Valhalla(another Montreal game), Eivor even declines Assasins' offer to join them at the end of the game after hunting proto templars throughout the game. Also no idea why you think their business practices are shady, you can buy all of Syndicate's gear and equipment with just playing the game, Unity is the game that wants you to rack heavy cash in order to get high end gear which you can unlock at the start of the game with money. Quebec gets more hate than they deserve imo.

I think you're kind of confused as to what their internal studio collaboration means. Quebec and Montreal might consult with one another to make sure their games are consistent with each other from a worldbuilding perspective, but Montreal isn't writing the narrative for Red. They are working on Hexe which is their own separate project, and Red is going to primarily be developed and written by Quebec still

When I first heard about AC Rer I had 0 interest (even though the setting sounds amazing) and I thought it would just be another Valhalla. However the more I hear about the leaks, the nore optimistic and excited I become. I haven't played an AC game since Unity (I did try Origins but It wasn't for me) however, I remained a fan of the series and follow what's happening. I might give Red a try.

They are just chasing trends. Valhalla was made because viking stuff was popular with the TV series and all that and now they are doing samurai and ninja stuff because that has a build in oudience. Back in the day the games took place in period and places many people didnt and often still dont know much about. It felt like a look into history that was actually relevant to the modern world and not just a game about the new cool thing.

The best decision Ubisoft could make is creating a faithful yet modern assassins creed game that isn't bloated, but is instead created with narrative and gameplay at the forefront of priorities. It isn't big bloated RPG's that generates huge revenues, its meticulously crafted games such as the ones we have previously, blackflag, brotherhood etc. I do not see it topping ghost of Tsushima unfortunately, since that game was made from the heart. 0 Microtransactions or huge expansions packs, just a game that was created with the goal of making a really fun game with a great story and setting.

If Quebec turns over another rpg with odyssey-like over the top combat and skills, poor dialogue experience and more fantasy monster bosses, it’s gonna get ridiculed to no end.

To be fair, I'm not really looking forward to AC Red, like the more we know about it, the worse it seems. Not to mention there is Ghost of Tsushima - a game that took the AC formula and polished it to another level. Ubisoft Quebec will have a hard time proving themselves that AC Red is a good game that can can on its own, not in Ghost of Tsushima shadow. AC Hexe, however, have a lot of potentials. If Ubisoft want to make a new breaking point to evolve the AC ip, I have a hunch that they will try it in AC Hexe. Whether it's a good thing or bad thing, we'll have to wait and see.

I mean ubisoft have realised along time ago what they have on their hands. Assassin's creed is just a money making machine for them. Nothing else nothing more. Now i do understand you're point obviously, unfortunately ubisoft doesn't seem to understand that, if they want a good game they have to try, which has been while. I say this because, nowadays they only put minimal effort because why do they need to try so hard if they have so many people? That's at least what they think. They obviously do not give a s*** enough with their creations. Because if they generally did they would of A. Care about the consumer and give the best quality product they can provide or B. Not care about the customer (which is more likely) but at least put in effort into their product, because not only will they continue to keep the old customers, but also gain new ones and generating more money as a result. But from what i can see they have gone with C. Which is not caring about the customer. only putting minimal effort, and finally, just repeating the cycle until they finally became incompetent.

i think quebec wants to make a non ac rpg game thats tied to ac in no way at all similar to odyssey. i wouldn't say they did terrible on syndicate but then again they had what a lot of people consider the best ac game to work off of leading to the fact that the outcome couldn't come out all too different with gameplay and mechanics. i can enjoy syndicate but as a retired unity player since all my progress was lost i must admit i cant think of anything syndicate does that unity doesn't do better

Liking your channel more with every video. I’m a little sympathetic to Quebec, I feel that they wanna make games like immortal fenyx but Ubisoft higher ups won’t let them. So they try and recreate what they’ve “lost” in their games. Their games aren’t terrible, just not assassins creed. Regardless of the latter is true, they can’t keep making odysseys. So I’m hoping they just let Quebec handle the story. If I get that I’ll be happy

Honestly, assassin's creed Odyssey should have removed the dialogue options and should have been set in persia, we could have just played as Darius instead of the Kassandra and Alexios, at least we would have had an assassin character, even if they ain't apart of the brotherhood.

Comment on the actal topic: They've already stated that Red is "the ideal ninja story" so I have lost faith already. There's really not that much to talk about. About that recently they've been doing these open world games as cutting up the map to multiple pieces and deviding them between the studios so each studio gets their part. I remember a picture where they showed Odyssey's map. By far the best storylines, connectivity and consistency was which Montreal did. The Island of Kreta I believe. Have you seen that btw? So just bc of the fact that not literally only one studio does everything, won't make the game better. Overall, if at all. Back to odyssey's example despite that missions on Kreta were the best in the game, I still loathe that game with its every aspect. It's nowhere near as good to even be called mediocre.
