I'm glad people are finally saying this!!! Humans cannot comprehend exponential growth, and many developers in the industry have so much copium. Sure senior level positions will be the last to be automated, but what about entry and mid level developers? It's undeniable that with AI, fewer people can do the same amount of work. We are headed towards a complete change in society in the next couple decades.

That is why I switched to learning AI last semester. Originally, I had focused on software engineering, but for someone like me who would graduate in a year, the software engineering job market became uncertain and unpredictable. If the ultimate outcome would involve facing more challenging job prospects, then I might as well choose to study AI

I think a thing you are missing is that AI in this form (Generative Neural Nets with Transformers) has not been around for long. The first research paper was released in 2017 and GPT2 came out at the end of 2019. This is the very beginning of an exponential curve and programming as we know it will be gone in 5 years as all computer interactions will be in high level requirements in natural language.

Communication tip number 1: it makes the other person feel defensive or closed off when you start your sentence with “you are missing …”.

I saw the Sam Altman Interview with Lex Fridman a while ago, and he was right about the first jobs that are going to go away for good. Personally I have seen how businesses are replacing customer service reps with AI. Those are very repetitive jobs that sooner or later will disappear. not to mention are customer service jobs are not for humans imo.

@@exaltitude I think the most physical jobs, in software it seems we will all be replaced haha

Many physical jobs will be automated first. For example, cashiers or banks are already replaced by machines. Some harder to replace are massage therapist or nurses. Software Engineering could also be one of the last to go after we build machines to replace all other jobs lol

Arguably all content creators have an agenda of some sort. Arguably human being by nature have agendas for most acts they carry on through life.
