Peppa pig was pure distraction away from the social care bill and it worked a charm. I think people are just scared of another lockdown to be honest. Why? Because the government said the vaccine was the solution. They’re now saying it might not be. It’s a deep lack of trust in those in power combined with the huge implications the lockdowns had on our mental and physical health that’s making people worry. I love Russell but I don’t really get how he’s roasting boris for being a mess one second but not considering it when talking about people’s reaction to masks. Once, working in the computer lab, my infant and her four year old sister, were under the table, playing together quietly, when another student looked down and said "There's a baby there." "Yes", said I, is she bothering you?" "No." Soon all the professors knew, if I were around, there might be a baby to play with, and were quite disappointed if she'd been left with her father. Ever since the mask rules came out my parents have always worn masks when they go to work, go in shops, etc. I haven't always wanted to admittedly (I have anxiety and when I get anxious I struggle to breathe) but I still try to and wear one most of the time. It's not that hard. It really pisses me off when grown adults whine like toddlers all because they have to wear a piece of fabric on their face while they're in a shop because I still wear one even though I was told at the beginning of the pandemic I don't have to wear one because of my breathing problems. Except the people who actually _work_ in the shops and don’t have to wear a mask only for ten minutes every two or three days like we do when we shop there but actually must wear those (possibly) useless masks all day long six days a week are understandably fed up. I have the chance not to have to wear a mask in my line of work, but there’s no way I would do that all day long anyway. You’ve also got those who’ve gone absolutely bonkers with masks : I’ve seen people wear one when alone in their cars, elderly people wear one when walking alone in a deserted village or even worse while cycling alone in the middle of the countryside (!!!), or kids going off the school bus and again, walking through the empty village streets while not taking off their mask! This is utter madness. I’m not even talking about the old dotard in the White House who insists on wearing his nappy on his mouth when he had at least three shots of the vaccine and even the District of Columbia (where the White House is) does not have a mask mandate... Yes, of course, there are stupid “anti mask” people, and on this show and others like it they show us the loonies to make fun of them and to make their point, but there are also plenty of fetishistic lunacy in mask wearing - but somehow, they don’t make fun of that...
