There aren’t many Canadians talking about what’s going on over here and a lot of people just focus on American news. While our current political climate has been feeling very bleak, to have someone come out and make well thought out videos dispelling some of the misinformation out there makes me feel less hopeless. @@Queentiwa It's even more important to be one of the few online voices that is not in the paid neocon troll army that has been created to obviously dominate social media of all kinds. What are the values and principles that fit myself and the countries best interest? Do I believe Canadians should have a right to love and marry whomever they want, same or opposite sex? YES I DO Do I believe that workers should have rights, fair wages and safety protocols that businesses and corporations are responsible to adhere to by law? YES I DO Do I believe the Government should provide social services to its people like physical and mental health care, financial assistance to those unable to work, and families to assist in raising healthy children etc? YES I DO! Do I think the government has a responsibility to take all possible measures to protect the safety of its citizens and the environment? YES I DO Do I believe our government officials are responsible for diplomatic relationships and cooperating with other countries and providing help when there is a need? YES I DO Do I believe that our government should control and limit access to harmful weapons? YES I DO Do I believe that all people should be seen as equals? YES I DO Do I believe that women and girls should have the right to an abortion no matter the circumstance? YES I DO Do I believe that government officials should always prioritize its citizens before cooperations or money? YES I DO We vote on our principals and they should always be on the side of good! We should pass a law that makes what Danielle Smith did illegal. By advocating for Alberta directly with Trump she undermined Canada's negotiating position as a whole. We should pass something that means: Only a person appointed by the federal government to negotiate may engage with a foreign leader about an issue affecting all of Canada. Although thinking about it, if we did have such a federal law there would be a nasty fight about provincial powers vs federal powers. She would say "It's within my authority because I lead Alberta" and a sizable chunk of Canadians would side with her. We have a long history of federal vs provincial fights.

I think BC's premiere had a really good point. Retaliatory tarriffs are definitely warranted and important but 3 other things need to be addressed one of which is Canadians rethinking where and who we spend our money with. Avoid traveling to the US during this time, buy goods alternatives from Canadian run, produced or grown businesses and not American companies and products, make our options felt fdirectly and indirectly. We also need to work nuch harder in diversifying our trade partners and markets we've pit our eggs in one basket too much. We also need to ease internal trading restrictions within Canada province/territory to province/territory. Lastly we need to invest in new technologies, jobs and opportunities here in Canada. We often have many people employed in these multinational but US run corporations that immediately pullout and layoff or close their centers in Canada leaving us high and dry and vulnerable to US power plays especially whenever there is an economic downturn. We have alot of intelligent, capable and innovative people and we need to promote that more and invest in our future. On top of that we need to identify key critical products we need to withstand economic upheaval and leave us less vulnerable to supply chain issues. Things like food (perhaps we should look to UK's greenhouse example), essential medicine, etc. The pandemic was a big example of how we are not doing this that well. THAT being said we don't need to close our markets to outside trade for these items either since that just leads to monoply or protectionist policies. We need more balance in our economic strategies and we need to express this more to our mp's and each other and vote for our political candidates that keep this in mind. I'm proud of Canada and our responses to this Trump threat minus a few politicians such as the maple magas polievre and Alberta's premiere. I dislike Ford and much of his policies but I do have to give him credit for standing up for Canada when it counts unlike these others. Edit: i'm not sure why smith hasn't looked a ppushing different international markets and agreement. EU is being crippled with the gas/oil issue. Can we not find ways to supply them with oil and gas while denying US? Does she not get people in us will attempt to cut back on oil purchase while these tarriffs from the US will reduce these oil workers anyway and that Alberta is not just one resource and Canadians outside oil and gas fields in her province and across Canada also deserve for their best intereststo be respected and defended? It's surprising and extremely disappointing to see such a traitor in a position of power kowtowing to the Trump and serving their own self interests. She deserves a great deal more condemnation. There is a line between defending your province's interests and going behind everyone else's back to only benefit yourself and she definitely crossed that.

Everyone needs to research Pomous Pierre Poilievre . 11 years as an MP as amember of Prime Minister’s Stephen Harper’s government and also a member of his cabinet should show many examples of his true self . @@Queentiwa No, thank you. Really. We need these conversations to be happening. Thank you for putting yourself out there. That's no small thing... And we need to be 'hair on fire' that PP's "objections" to being the 51st state have yet to be picked up by US media... The man knows his audience. Also - my personal theory is Ford has looked at the political landscape and is presently running a slow campaign to become PM. The Red Tories (what's left of them) have to go somewhere...

He's doing his best to stir up controversy and conflict to distract from the fact that he has no intentions or ability to deliver on the promises he made. He's going to make life worse for most Americans and needs them to be distracted until he can take control. And they're falling for it. But it doesn't even matter if he doesn't go through with the tariffs, I'm still going to boycott as many American businesses as I can. Those lies are inexcusable.
@Queentiwa20 күн бұрын
EXACTLY!! It’s all about distraction and keeping people focused on the outrage instead of the real issues. Trump knows how to stir the pot, and unfortunately, a lot of people fall for it. Even if the tariffs don’t happen, the damage is already being done with all the fear-mongering and division.

I don't comment a lot on videos, but I wanted to say thank you for your amazing videos covering Canadian politics! And it is really nice to read the comments and see people being upset by Trump's comments. I live in a really conservative area within a more conservative province, and I've heard from a small handful of people how they believe Trump is going to be the one to savw Canada. And that terrifies me deeply as someone very left leaning, and currently trying to help my American friend's who are going to be or already are being negatively affected by Trump's policies. I hope everyone stays safe out there, sending lots of of hugs and good vibes out there ❤

"We need to not rely on anybody but ourselves. We need to stop waiting for someone else to defend us or to validate us... it's genuinely time for us to take pride in our country ... to start acting like the strong, independent nation that we are." This is what we need to say collectivey and be ready to fight for. Well said. Enough is enough. And yeah, we are definitely looking at some of those 'leaders' sideways.

PP cannot tell us what he is planning because if we knew what he wants to do, I think even the comatose Canadian electorate would realize they could not reasonably vote for him. As it is, he's so mealy-mouthed that anyone who wants to oppose the Liberals can convince themselves that he's saying whatever they want him to be saying.

I will not become the 51st state. Because I have health problems and I do not. Want to be homeless because I can't afford to pay for my medical bills. I have american friends.who are living on the street because they have nowhere to live, because they either had to pay for oxygen tanks and their medical bills at the hospital for their kidney dialysis. And it's sad to see them homeless, looking for a place to plug their oxygen tanks in only for a minute. Trying to stay warm from the cold. Living off of very little food they can afford because all of it goes to paying for it further medical bills. And with all of the health problems that I have, I would hate it to have to pay. Money just to get. Testing done that, the doctors are sending me to.and the cardiologist when you see your friends from America, putting up a funded razor so they can have money to pay for their child's medical bills. Juts make me sad, thinking. Why can't they do what we do?😢😭

I agree that Jean Chrétien stood up for Canada more than other PMs (which is a very low bar), but he also did some terrible things while he was in power. He was the main architect of the Sixties Scoop when he was Indian Affairs Minister in the 1960s, even going so far as to adopt an Indigenous child himself. While he was PM, they called him "the friendly dictator" because he made a series of reforms to reduce transparency and oversight and to centralize power in the Prime Minister's Office at the expense of Parliament. He also provided diplomatic and economic support to actual dictators overseas, most famously Suharto in Indonesia. His government started the ongoing crisis in our healthcare system with the drastic funding cuts in the 1995 budget

Back when Dalton McGuinty was Premier of Ontario, a Quebecois inventor brought an electric car, to start up its production here in Ontario. He's also a manufacturer of electric batteries for these cars. He still makes the batteries, but McGuinty said no to the car, because we've been locked into hard contracts with the US car industry, probably since Ford's Model T rolled off the line. His excuse was that the car couldn't go any faster than 40km an hour, so it was useless. No chance for further development or use as a city driving vehicle. We could have called it the Canadiana or something, but we aren't allowed to do anything like this that could possibly compete in any way with the US. It's pathetic. In the 1970's we used to talk about the 🇨🇦 brain drain to the US, because there was no place on this side of the border for us to work in our areas of expertise. We have the education, but because we're forcibly stunted economically by non-trade restrictions between Provinces, so we HAVE to trade with the States, and prohibition on our developing our own industries that could compete with the bully to the south. We've given up everything to appease the US economic system. In the '70's we managed to get some restrictions made on their free run of everything of ours. We got more 🇨🇦 music content on our radio stations, TV, film and the arts. We're still behind the eight ball in so many other things. We should for instance have our own 🇨🇦 made electric car and battery manufacturering plant, here in Ontario by now. But no, we're replacing our own opportunity to do things for ourselves by making Volkswagens. And selling our raw materials for others' to make batteries from, instead of having our own people make their living from it here and get markets elsewhere to sell it too.🇨🇦 made is a good product. Too bad we'll NEVER really find out with the US's boot always on our collective throats.

As a fresh immigrant, I have been having a little feeling about Canada as the second US (I don't mean like a complete copy of course.) Maybe it is just me who came from a country with a strong national identity, and thus I perceived Canada being a little bit too soft in terms of defining identity. Most probably I just haven't lived enough to see the whole picture. Yet, I am glad to see how most of MPs show assertive opinion about Canada's identity. Thank you for the video!!! Yes my dear one, 💯. I will recommend a Canadian movie on KZbin about the Avro Arrow. It tells it all about the deplorable conservative party and the Mericans who have been trying to take us apart for centuries, piece by piece. THE ARROW - 1997 The movie was made in 97, but the true story is from the fifties. When tump says we are neglecting our military force in the world, this is the usa point of view not just trump. But when we have moved forward in our military, especially when ahead of the USA, the knock us down to be their lackey. The New generation Canadian politicians to the older liberal is day and night Pierre Trudeau kept us out of Vietnam also. Dog Ford a DEMAGOGUE, he is a used car salesman. But yes he said what we all want to hear. Great video keep it up. I have to ask. Is it easy or difficult, to ha brains and beauty all in one? Lol
