It'll definitely be out at IAE. Last status update was that it was essentially complete and they were just polishing the last few bits, and that was from September.

Pipeline has some very interesting info regarding a potential Carrack rework too- wonder if this is the friend from the past. Totally agree with you though as a former Carrack owner (and now Polaris owner) that this totally takes over the Carrack's former role. But man, they NEED to sort bedlogging out and quickly. It would be a game changer to be able to spawn on friend/org ships if you bedlog.

@@DomBogey94 I can’t think of a good balance but it would probably mean no shield when stealthed and such to lower EM and stealth materials to lower IR and cross section signatures. Only showing up on radar when close or as you target and do final prep for launch

CIG has built a lot of stealth on component size. Seeing as how the Polaris has capital-sized components, I don't really think they're going to go that direction.

@@karl___marx yup should be November, but I wouldn’t necessarily expect them to have us wait until the end of it per say, but probably have it in display for folks then and possibly in player’s hands

normally it starts around the second week of November and goes on into December but all ships wont be available day one you will have access to 1 new manufacture every day so if your looking to fly the polaris youl have to wait for RSI day. also if your looking to save some money I would strongly suggest you take advantage of the daily warbond ccu.

@@ferenctoka I guess I’m just thinking of a sub sized ship compared to realist naval scales. So I guess subs aren’t really capital ships but maybe a corvette which I think the Polaris fits in. The retaliator could probably fit in that category or something like a connie.

They have said that Polaris will definitely be released at the IAE. It is quite logical that the eyes are mainly on the Zeus, as many people would rather buy a Zeus for 175$ than a Polaris for over 800$ as it will also get a price update and become more expensive, as mentioned at invictus.

yup, but even the Zeus being so close in price to something like the Taurus is wild, making the Taurus a better buy, except for those that have a good Zeus CCU chain

I wouldn't buy the CL for that very reason, however the ES lokks interesting for it greater fuel capacity and Large scanner..allbeit that loop isn't out yet. The ability to scan 40k's out for planetside POI would be good. Now if only i can squeeze the ES in the hangar...

I wouldnt compare this to a Carrack since exploration involves alot of scanning and landing on planets which capital ships are horrible at due to the insane fuel costs in atmosphere. Sure you could put an exploration subship in the hangar but its not even close as good as a Carrack at its core job. Polaris is more of an much larger allrounder for when you want to be able to respond to multiple different situations at the same time at the cost of worse efficiency. Like you arent as efficient as a Hammerhead or Perseus on escort missions which are mostly defend against fighters, but due to your size and mobility you can fullfill the role. I think the torpedoes will come especially handy in PvE against Vanduul who have oversized ships for their class like Idris sized Cargo Ships. I think a better comparison would be the Misc Odyssey, very similar allrounder except that you trade torpedos and mobility for fuel-selfsustain and shield power.

@@strawberry-parfait3922 I definitely get that but I think folks are going to compare it to other large ships like the Carrack and maybe 890. The latter being pretty unobtainable. It definitely won’t be an explorer but we don’t really have exploration and it should be able to fit that big ship to really get lost in (well maybe that’s just the Starfarer 😁)

the em signature that a capital ship puts out is huge so i dont see a capital ship stealth not without major changes, it will be an everything ship to play around with in what im hoping is 3 star systems now

I think a lot of us are thinking / knowing we will be solo this ship LOL or maybe with a 2nd player. I also have been looking for a ship for the Vulture to fit , I got the Faterpillar for it but the Vulture wont fit in it. Not sure about the Polaris, the Liberator is my next ship that may fit the roll

Polaris won't be out till Nov 14 or 15, they've basically hinted that a few times. Which is IAE basically.

Apart from SQ42, is there going to be a regular military as part of the Star Citizen persistent universe? Instead of spending hundreds of real world dollars to own a Polaris, couldn't I just serve on one and be a crew member? I would like to see CitizenCon give us details on making ORGs part of the game so that individuals don't have to pay a fortune to get access to large capital ship gameplay.

@@olternaut I use them to usually do Bounty hunting either PVE or PVP. It’s definitely better to have a crew but server sizing and mission payouts needs to be fixed to make that more viable. Luckily sharing missions can help but if it’s just an activity like mining then some of that may need balancing for large crews.

@@PH03NIX96 I haven’t seen the new shields yet but before this nerf fights had a heck of a time eating through shields. Connies and Corsairs would pound it though. I’m thinking it may show up in ERTs at some point. They recently talked about armor but who knows how long that will take.
