Will Clark reflects on playing with the Cardinals his final year before retiring: "If I was gonna go out, I was going out on top of the mountain and St. Louis provided me that. Just the whole experience was phenomenal."

As a lifelong Giants fan, I'm so happy that Will "the Thrill" ended his career on such a wonderful high note with the Cardinals. St. Louis is an amazing sports town, with some of the most knowledgeable, loyal and good-natured baseball fans in the world. Some baseball players just belong in the National league, and Will Clark was one of those players. Buster Posey and Will Clark are the only two Giants players I've seen go out at the very top of their game. Absolute legends.

One of my favorite players of all time. He was always such a great sportsman and a class act. What fun it would have been to have him as a career Cardinal.

Cardinals were so fortunate to get another legend at the end of his career. He played so hard, loved the game and if The Cardinals had 9 Will Clark’s in the field they’d never lose a game.

Will was the epitome of a player you either loved or hated. For the exact same reasons, depending on whether he played for you or against you. We found that out in StL:) Always intense & ALWAYS that sweet, lefty swing. DAMN you, Will! And Thank you...

Exactly! I hated in a Giants uniform but loved him in a Cardinal uniform. I wish they could have found him a role with the team so he could have been there a little longer. I found a whole new appreciation for him in that 1 and only season with STL. That 2000 team was a fun team to watch.

Hated him as a Giant, only because he was playing against us. Class act all around.

Seriously I met Him once. Guy is who he is. He is humble yet on the edge of cocky and confident. He has manners and is truly a good dude. Will Clark is nothing fake. He is who he is and baseball needs more Will Clarks. I hated him in the 80’s beating up on my Cardinals but I respect the hell out of him

I'm from Cleveland. In 1968 my father was in the Air Force and was transferred to Scott Air Force Base. Lived in Belleville, Illinois for 4 years. Lou Brock became my favorite player and the Cardinals my second favorite team after my Tribe. I still love the Cardinals.

One of my favorite players of all time. Very intense player, and a great competitor. I wish that he was with the Cardinals longer. Life is about timing and he was about 10 years too late.

Glad that St. Louis gave Will "the Thrill" Clark the wonderful end to his career he deserved. Some players just belong in the National League, and Will Clark was one of those players. Props to the Cardinals for always being one of the best organizations in baseball.

As a cardinals fan we got Clark , smoltz, Eric Davis , berkman, Larry walker , and more at the end of their careers but still so clutch . Such a treat . Also remember most of the fans bitching about the cardinals not getting anybody all the time

Hey, I get it. I thought when the Giant’s got Willie McGee, I felt the same. In a short burst Clark got your team to the playoffs, and had an impact felt thru it the next few years…
